Darrelle Revis: “My body’s breaking down”

I think they are cutting him after this year anyway. They owe him $2.3m in roster and workout bonuses and another ~$13m in salary. If they cut him they'll have a dead cap of $6m for 2017 and save ~$10m.

Hes gone IMO

say that again?
Yeah, it wasn't well structured.

Jet's tampered. Patriots ok with it because they knew the deal would hamper the Jets ability to pay other players (not that that's true, but in the end that's the effect).

I should know better than to post after a night of severe sleep deprivation .

Sherman was right, it was #24 that was beaten for a TD in the Super Bowl.

Revis did two great things for us...

1. Help us win our 4th

2. Put a huge hole in the Jets salary cap

In the big picture, he may be the greatest player in Jets history, yet the gleam from that ring is symbolic on so many levels of embarrassment, frustration and envy from Jets fans.

His bank account isn't breaking down though.

His ticket to Canton is probably already punched, so good for him

There were times when he was here BB gave Revis safety help over the top. He realized Revis was losing a step and used him accordingly. BB knows and can see players declining and was smart enough to let him go.

Jets didn't think twice before signing him. He is getting burnt badly this season. May be they thought it was he who caught the game sealing INT in the superbowl.

He was also frequently smart enough to put Revis on an island against the other team's WR2, while giving Browner, Ryan or Arrington help over the top with the WR1. Bowles, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to have picked up on that being the right way to do things. Maybe because he doesn't have a safety anywhere near as good as McCourty at his disposal.

after 2014? if i remember correctly bill said they didn't even make an offer. the jets were bidding against themselves.

Hopefully someone who knows will straighten it out.

Iirc they offered him over 35 million so we have an idea.
Giardi back then said he was told the Patriots' offer didn't top $30 million guaranteed. Revis got $39 million guaranteed from the Jets.

uhhh ya think?

Pats got rid of him at the right time

My guess is that he'll retire soon. He's always been more physical than quick and with the rule changes once you lose your quickness/speed you're in big trouble

I remember him doing just that against the Bills. Problem was he put Revis alone against Marquise Goodwin. Talk about a mismatch!

So his body is breaking down, but not in a bad way?

What is the GOOD way to have your body break down?

BB's crystal ball is as good as ever.

You may be correct, but I remember a replay during a game vs the Jets where he shutout Welker.... he was plenty quick at that point in his career. It looked like Welker had a green shadow.

And not all guarantees are actually guaranteed. The reports of "$30 million guaranteed" could actually mean something like a first year at $15 million fully guaranteed and a second year at $15 million only guaranteed for injury. That would mean there's a huge difference in fully guaranteed money.
