And the only two truths are
- Losing Mankins did hurt the team, and it was such a problem that Brady and others had to get BB to address the team about it.
- Edelman doesn't fill Welker's shoes. They have different roles and, while I love Edelman, Welker was better at his, IMO. But the issue with Welker leaving was Amendola, not Edelman, and the problem there was always Amendola's health. And we saw that throughout Amendola's time with the Patriots.
- As long as Brady is Brady...
- As long as BB is running the team...
Made the Super Bowl 4 out of last 5 years.
Arguably the greatest 5 years in Patriots history. A win on Sunday ends the argument comparison to the Pats of 2001-2004.
You can close your eyes and proclaim all day that "The Patriots were hurt by the August 26, 2014 Mankins trade". History guffaws.
Neither Mankins nor Welker were on either the 2001-2004 nor the 2014-2018 Pats. Those guys were great players in the middle/lesser period of the Dynasty. Amendola is not on this year's team.
In the meantime (and back to the issue), unwarranted certitude about a young players' future is worthless.
