Wait? So you're suggesting that Danny Amendola was targeted MORE than Julian Edelman in the first 11 games, and then in the last 5 he somehow ended up with approximately 1/2 of Julian Edelman's total targets on the year? By this thinking, Edelman would have had to receive 100 extra targets in the last 5 games to make up such a difference.

Danny Amendola 83 targets on the year
How could Amendola possibly have had more targets in all of the games that they played in together, when he only missed 4 games all year? Even stranger, how could he then have ended up with only (approximately) 1/2 of the targets that Edelman received? That doesn't make much sense, does it?
Like I said, if you want to try and determine what player "lost" his starting job, and which player took that job from him, all you need to do is look at snap counts and percentage of offensive plays.
