Looking past the sunk costs is something that you have to do to credibly evaluate anyone's options regarding anything moving forward. This isn't really a topic for debate: if you disagree then you simply don't understand what's being discussed.
One can choose to ignore the sunk cost, if one chooses. Doing so makes one's position less accurate, however, even when discussing value moving forward, because it hides a part of the truth. What you're essentially trying to do is change the argument from "Is he worth YET ANOTHER $X above his current cap number?" to "Ignoring his current hit, is he worth $X". Both ways of looking at it have claims to legitimacy, as, frankly, does the basic "He's going to cost Y (X+ current hit), even in a case where you're specifically discussing options moving forward, and claiming that your way is the only way is just downright nonsense. Furthermore, my post you responded to didn't even delve specifically into the numbers or sunk v. new costs. If you're looking for a fight, go find someone else.
This Amendola stuff is boring to me. He'll stay or he'll go. He'll stay healthy or he won't. At this point, I don't give a damn. My posts in this thread, prior to responding to you, did nothing more than point out the obvious:
Amendola only has value if he can play, and play well
Signing bonuses accelerate if a player gets cut
Wifork's had many great seasons, while Amendola's never had one.
I have no interest in the rest.
