Curran's latest mock 3.0...

I like that a lot, I'd love to get Beason and I like McCauley more than most around here seem to.

Some will be breathing smoke and fire, though, if we pass on Carriker and allow The Jest to get him.

I thought the top half of Curran's mock was very plausible, but the Patriot's picks and other possible first round selections have me scratching my head.

Not a bad mock. i don't agree with some of the picks and players but on the Patriots side i don't mind.

I'm at a loss to see how Beason fits in the Patriots' 3-4. He weighed in at 229 for the Miami Pro-day, down from the 237 he weighed for the Combine. He reportedly was injured while at the Combine and was unable to complete all the drills or particpate at the Pro-day - he is scheduled to work out April 5 at his high school. As talented as he appears to be, I don't see a 6' 230 lb. LB surviving inside for the Pats.

I can't get excited about McCauley either. I saw him against Oregon and in the Senior Bowl, while the physical talent is evident, I'd prefer a football player - someone who understands the nature of a contact sport.

Curran is better on Baseball.

However, I am in the Macauley camp. Where allot of the guys on this forum are more willing to give Meriweather the benefit of the doubt on his question marks... I prefer to reserve MY PASS to a kid like McCauley. I think he caught a bad rap in '06 (which I covered in detail in another thread). I have a feeling that Pat Hill will have good things to say about him to BB.

Another guy on that Bulldog team who I think will be underrated (due to a poor '06), but will produce at a high level in the NFL, is WR Paul Williams.

McCauley sounds like a good prospect, without the resume of Richard Marshall. And Marshall dropped to the second round when the Pats didn't take him. Definately first day, but not first round. IN this case, I am feeling Grubbs. He doesn't fit, but I like him with the Pats last pick in this mock.

**Scratches head**

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

**keeps scratching...**

I like this line from the Bengals pick:

Darrelle Revis (CB, 5-10, 200 pounds, Pittsburgh)
What they most need is a guy who hasn't heard, "Up against the wall and spread 'em" in the past four years.

Probably more respect for Curran than anyone else out there right now, also understands how the Pats do business... like the picks, but seems that Beason is a tad small.

I certainly do not mind the Beason pick, I am not to worried about the wieght issue.

McCaully seemed a bit odd, I would have prefered Griffen or Merriweather in that slot. Both Seemed to still be available.

Ditto Ross. He had none of those three going in the first round.

The thing about McCauley is that he has the highest upside - and a good work ethic - of the CB in the draft; including Hall IMO. Now, he has a low downside too but a lot of his problems were thought to be confidence and technique.

If it came down to a choice of Posluzny, Beason or Harris as the best choice for the Pats defense. I would rank them Harris #1, Posluzny #2 and Beason #3.

Does Tom Curran hate us now?

I kind of agree with the positions selections LB/CB, but I dunno how good of a fit his particular selections are.

We've all heard the stories of how Belichick liked Vilma coming out - he's listed as 6'1", 230.

Beason is a thick, beefy 230; he's a big 230 if that's a reasonable way to think of it.

Are you trying to sell soup or a linebacker?

But Harris is nowhere rated as a first round pick...
