Curran: Out of hand

Thanks for the heads-up, 726.
Especially, for a ProJo link that skips their registration screen.

One interesting note - (talk about thin reading between the lines) - was that Brady mentioned the difference for him between throwing to Branch, Givens, and Brown versus this year 'Caldwell, Stone, and Brown.

Why wasn't he mentioning Jackson and perhaps Childress (Childress was in practice and took kick returns) ??

Maybe it was just a passing phrase.

Curran did sort of jump on it:

"It's one thing for Brady to spend the necessary practice time to get Caldwell or rookie Chad Jackson up to speed with what's going on. They will be central figures in the Pats' offense. John Stone probably won't be. Yet he's in a position where he's taking reps with the presumed starters.
Belichick speaks often about the finite amount of time the club has at every practice and the importance of maximizing it. Throwing to Stone isn't the best use of that time. Coaching Stone probably isn't, either."

One could loosely speculate that Stone is getting some reps early to see if he's going to stay on the roster or be cut quickly. Who knows. Or ?.....

I have a feeling they are subbing the #1 on the first unit with a body rather than asking the rookie on the second unit to step in. Jackson has a role to learn and is perhaps better served learning it than subbing for our MIA #1. If the holdout persists into TC that will have to change as will everyone's role. That's the selfish angle in all this. But for now better now not to overload the rookie or anyone but the more expendable by asking them to cover for Branch.

I agree this comment seems a little bit peculiar because the whole point of these mini-camps is to position guys so you know how much attention to give them at TC or if they are even worthy of bringing to TC. I dunno, I guess I don't see the harm in letting this guy work with the first team one day in mini-camp when regular reciever is not there. Who else are you gonna put in there?

Very good speculation Mo.
