Intentional fools act like fools because they think it's less foolish if it's intended.

The unintended consequence is that their reasoning is itself unintentional foolishness. So they double up on being fools.

“I am sick to death of cleverness. Everybody is clever nowadays. You can’t go anywhere without meeting clever people. The thing has become an absolute public nuisance. I wish to goodness we had a few fools left.” - Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest

"This cold night will turn us all into fools and madmen." The Fool in King Lear.

"If the fool would persist in his folly he would become wise." - William Blake, The Marriage of heaven and Hell.

“There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” - Soren Kierkegaard

“The greatest lesson in life is to know that even fools are right sometimes.” - Winston S. Churchill

“The greatest fools are ofttimes more clever than the men who laugh at them.” - George R.R. Martin,

“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.” - Bertrand Russell

The 2026 Patriots are going to be a much better team than this one is because so many rookies got substantial playing time this season, and they are going to become much better players after a full offseason in their programs. They don't need to target anywhere near the number of positions this offseason because they already have the answers on their team, people simply need to have the patience to allow them to develop. And this is the approach Vrabel has outlined for the overall development of the team going forward, develop their draft picks and then use free agency to fill any holes they haven't filled with young players they are developing. It will be interesting to take a closer look at the roster when the season ends and figure out where they will try to go in free agency and then the draft.
