Didn't know where to post this since it's probably going to get very little attention buried in a thread about a game from a week ago lol

Anyway I just wanted to praise the play of this rookie who at the time he was drafted I thought it was a little higher than he was expected to go. That said I liked what I saw from his college tape.

This play in particular was very impressive.

You can see Gonzo looking confused on who got who initially....

Ladd blocks Marcus....

And Harris blocks Gonzo....

Then from deep Craig lays the Wood on Q.

Not bad for a rookie who was considered a disappointing pick in the 4th round.
He was very active in this game and while I agree he was selected higher than expected I was not disappointed by any means.

That's cool and all but he doesn't seem to make any plays. He's not really around the ball at all when it's in the air. In the offseason the Patriots could absolutely use a legit ball hawking safety. A guy who can cover tight ends also.

Woodson was an odd one, rated as a 3-rounder in some publications and completely invisible in others. E.g. NFLDraftBuzz ranked him the 17th-best safety in the draft.

So some Patsfans had a “who dat” moment. But most came around once they actually looked at the player. (Most, but not all—this is Patsfans, after all!)

He is very up and down - as most rookies. That play was an example of a great read & react and finished the tackle.

BUT - there's been a lot of over anxious missed tackles this year. And he's not great in man coverage on TE's.
I hope he can play his best game on Sunday. And certainly has showed the ability to grow into a great FS (hopefully becomes the next decade's DMac)

Has been the best rookie on the team. And one of the top 10 in the league IMO. And yes, I include Henderson and Campbell in that. I would guess if you have a redraft right now.. Woodson goes in the top 16. If not there he is a first rounder for sure. I know some may go ahead cause they have more 'upside'. But I am talking about play on the field.

And also it should be clear when I say this i am not adjusting for positional value. This is assuming all positions are equally valuable when i say he is one of the top 16 guys.

There are many unintentional fools in this life.
Intentional fools act like fools because they think it's less foolish if it's intended.

The unintended consequence is that their reasoning is itself unintentional foolishness. So they double up on being fools.

I agree, Woodson has been up and down. more up the latter portion of the season, which is to be expected for a rookie. I like his future, and his cerebral approach to the game should allow him to grow in his role.
I do find he and Hawkins a poor fit at S. I would much prefer Hawkins in a 3rd S position, able to fill in at either spot.
Would love to see a speedier playmaker back there.

What if I told you he's tied for giving up the most TD's on the team with 7 and top 5 in the NFL with just missing the top 10 in passing rating when thrown his way at 133? He and Marcus Jones (7 TD's) gave up 56% of their total passing TD's.

He made some nice plays Sunday night, but he needs to get better in coverage.

Woodson has played really well, but not better than Campbell and Henderson.
