The problem is, it's clear you don't understand how the Patriots have had success, and you don't understand their philosophy. You can make fun of reading books all you want, but those books were written by people who helped real fans understand how our favorite organization operates. So when you poke fun at that, you sound like one of those fans who has extremely strong, but uninformed, opinions.

No mav, that's not it. I wasn't making fun of those books. I own more than a few myself. I am just trying to point out that just because they have a formula, it doesn't mean they aren't ever going to do something different. I am sure BB and Pioli get an itch in there pants every once in awhile too.
Also, I was just trying to point out that just because you have read INSIDER books, doesnt menan you know everything that this team is thinking or doing. Anyone who has every run an organization before knows that even though you have a formula in place for winning doesn't mean you can't change with your surroundings and mold your formula alittle differently to survive. If you don't, then you're too stubborn and you're going to lose.

"Creative thought" That's a pretty charitable characterization. I would have gone with "stupid, hysterical, impetuous rants", but it's your post, so I'll trust your 'judgement'.

Secondly, its not about INSIDER books or anything else. It's simply about paying attention over the last six seasons, not only to the games, but the way the team has been constructed. Sure, the FO has surprised us all from time to time, but just the same, I think anyone who's been paying attention understands some basic truths about how this stuff works. Such as, teams are neither built nor dismantled, nor are championships won and lost in the first 48 hours of free agency, despite the protestations of the hold-my-breath-and-stamp-my-feet crowd.

I'm not even going to dignify the bizarre psychological profiling job. You're right - you don't know me. As far as the threats and so on, I'll just say that's a pretty sad response, yet not altogether surprising.

I suggest you stow your Holier than thou attitude and learn how to use the QUOTE button so that people don't have to guess that you are replying to Pats76.

Also, leave the internet tough guy act at the door. You want to be taken seriously, how about you start acting with the intelligence you claim to have. Especially if you supposedly have read "all the insiders books." 90% of what you have babbled has been in direct contradiction to what BB and Pioli are on record as saying how they have done business.

You can think outside the box and still follow the basic standards that BB and Pioli use for their decision making.

Actually, your threats are exactly the type an Internet tough guy makes. Its pretty amazing how you whine and complain about Freedom of Speech, yet you so like to ignore the fact that other people have that same Freedom and that your excercising your Freedom of Speech can have consequences. I don't know why everyone's so quick to discount a trade.

Last year BB very much wanted Derrick Mason, recognizing that his WR corps could use an infusion of talent.

The only thing that's changed from this year to last is that Branch is a year closer to the end of his contract, and our #2 receiver is a FA.

Aside from Givens there's not a lot in FA, and the draft looks weak. If we want a WR a trade might be the way to go - and we've already got plenty of 3,4,5,6 WRs - we need a #2 or #1B

Joe, at least for me, its not a trade that I discount, its a MAJOR trade. What teams (aside from Philly, of course) are looking to deal a #1, #1B or a #2 receiver? And who are these players, specifically? And what would the Patriots give up? If someone could answer these questions in a logical way, and present a reasonable scenario, I doubt anyone would be discounting anything.

And they are usually small, for a draft pick to fill a specific need.

For blockbuster trades watch baseball or one of those basketball extravaganzas where you have to throw in half the team to make the salaries match.

If you want excitement this time of year, follow Washington or Arizona.

Of course that's where the excitement ends. (although the Skins snuck into the playoffs this year, I think they're headed for a scandal-penalty)
