Fears is my all time favorite Pats assistant, after Dante. I would hate to see him leave.

I understand that Bill rotates assistants but why can’t Troy be the receivers coach? It’s not like the production there is stellar. He played the damn position well.

I hope bb hangs onto brown and Mayo as coaches regardless of what position they coach. Having super high character guys in the coaches room, who also did it on the field is a huge resource for the players.

there is an old saying in football that “athletic ability allows you to make plays in the first three quarters of a game, but it is high character that allows you to make plays in the fourth quarter.”

Brown proved that against St. Louis and that is something the current players will respect. He is a keeper!

When BB grooms coaches, he moves them around. It’s how he was brought up too. Not only w/in O or D roles, but also ST (you know he loves that).

the notable exceptions were Dante and Ivan Fears. Dante was always happy being what he was and reported publicly that he turned down outside promotion offers -I assume he turned down internal offers as well.
Troy started coaching in ST if I’m not mistaken and was working with some of the wr (at least as returners, but I think on wr stuff too) even if not a named er coach.

I wouldn’t be surprised if bb made him Ivan’s deputy for a year to learn the job (round out his coach skill set) or even maybe Ivan is retiring or gave bb a 1year out notice (to retire in 22).
Would hate to see fears retire/ depart for promotion, but change is perpetuall.

i wonder what our scouts and personnel guys are writing down in the evaluation process when looking at college receiver’s film!

kraft could sell those (after the players being evaluated retire) to diehard fans and create a new revenue stream.

We would get a whole new prospective and so many questions answered.
