Don't understand NY and CA. If you want to lock down those cities, there should be no travel in or out. Just having people stay home is not going to stop infected people from leaving and infecting other states.
Because it’s not all or nothing. It’s a percentage game. Even if it just reduces the amount of people on the streets by 10%, something growing this exponentially can be a huge relief of the healthcare industry.

When I was in Budapest they had things just like this in their museums related to Communism

I've never been to Budapest, and always wanted to go. So consider me jealous.

Great city. If you go, go for several days - so much to see and do. Never been a fan of “If it’s Tuesday it must be Florence” type travel.

It's about easing the curve. The only way you can stop this thing is if everyone was magically confined in their homes for 10 days. People would die from the disease and probably dehydration and exposure but we'd be free of the disease.

Otherwise it's a game of trying to manage how overwhelmed our nation's hospitals are and spreading the impact out as much as possible to reduce huge outbreaks while we basically all kill time waiting for a treatment or a vaccine.

I have been once in Budapest...nice City good gulasch food...awesome girls walking on the main street...10 years ago...mainly business trip

Credit card cloned too...
But it was a company credit card ...

Really, Bernie Sanders has already won the election -- we'll have government running everything, all of us depending on govt handouts, and waiting in lines to buy things that there are shortages of. His dream come true!

Disgusting that Bernie compromised and isn't mass producing guillotines. Sell out.

Exactly. It would be okay if every American got this virus..... if it happened over 5-10 years. However if 20% get it all at once, we are screwed.

We wouldn’t have the hospital rooms or the ventilators, healthcare workers would be overworked and some would catch it, it would spread at as faster rate.

Beyond that, say you get in a car accident and need medical care. Hospital rooms are packed, all the hospitals are full of sick people. Something easily preventable could become fatal over this.

Countries whose cultures are more focused on community are more likely to pull this off, no? I mean, the US is IMO a square peg/round hole situation since concepts of individual triumph and personal self-preservation are so ingrained in the vast majority of the country (including myself.)

Eh, those things can and do change. Culture is produced and reproduced, it's not set in stone.

Finland, Sweden, and Norway all have heavy nationalization of certain industries and all are social democracies.
What industries exactly?
What policies was he running on?

Medicare For All. An expansion of an already existing government program that would put us in line with similar healthcare models in Europe.

Reducing student loan debt. So basically a government bailout of federal loans like many others we’ve done in the past.

Closing corporate tax loopholes (basically fixing damage)

Raising taxes (again unless you are in principle against taxes and therefore society....)
What exactly are you getting at here?

MSNBC really isn’t far left. They tried to be once but basically pushed all the real left commentators off to other venues. Their big morning show is Joe Scarborough who is middle of the road Republican. Then Maddow and Hayes are basically as left as they get. It’s more hard establishment Democrat

The left have gone off the scale, that's why I use the term. The right hasn't really shifted all to much over the decades.

What are some real news sources? I try to listen to BBC World and Reuters. Any other suggestions?
I’m sure Albertans would disagree, but CBC News is a legit source of info.

Big multi-quote in a minute. First, I hope you guys are all well and taking care of yourselves and your family as applicable. I took the afternoon off, can't say because i want to party, right? LOL. Just felt like getting "away" for an afternoon, knock out some out-of-the-condo biz, then there's the decontamination shower and all

Be well people, even if I disagree with your ideas, or other's ideas mouthed through your form ... I think you should keep breathing, smiling, loving your families, just being.

We owe each other that, let's start from there

Ok anybody who's wrong stop being that, multiquote coming

Beautiful place. People are kind. Brought my kids. They loved it.

I travel to Europe yearly, I look forward to it and tell myself that despite the drudgery or real life- it’ll all be worth it “this summer”.

I know it’s a first world problem, but it’s one small way my world is changing for now.

Ohio reports 140k unemployment claims this week, up from 27k last week. This is unprecedented. Keep in mind highest national unemployment claims in one month during the Great Recession was 660k. This week alone is going to blow that out of the water. Absolutely insane.

he’s alright I guess

Yeah, he is the self-proclaimed "Milquetoast Fence-sitter". I also enjoy Steven Crowder occasionally, but people's superiority complexes start kicking in when you start naming people like Styxhexenhammer, Vincent James, Sargon of Akkad, PJW, etc.

I would probably gain about a hundred pounds trying all the various foods. The different goulashes alone would probably be good for about 75-80lbs.
