Colts may lose Arthur Jones for the season

Damn, that's rough for Jones, he's had some seriously bad luck staying healthy since he went to Indy.

Really screws the Colts though, which is great for us. Makes their weakest unit--and the one that we routinely exploit--even weaker. He isn't one of their best players, but he's one they could ill afford to lose.

This should put a well-deserved spotlight on Ryan Grigson's ineptitude as a GM, which is nice because **** him. Hopefully not enough of one to get him fired, though. There's always a chance that the next guy Indy hires doesn't utterly suck.

Colts fans are not worried. They've got Luck.

Superbowl bound.

Playoff bound maybe. Without Luck that is a 3-5 win team. They have next to zero elite talent on either side of the ball. Wonder why Sheard came here instead of there. And it wasn't just Lombardi.

Hmmmm..

Vontae Davis and TY Hilton are right on the cusp of elite, at least.

But generally, sure. When people try to discount Belichick's history of hitting on first round picks as if that's somehow a foregone conclusion, always just point them to the Colts. The Colts are what happens when you don't hit on first rounders, and it's pretty common. If first rounders seem like a sure thing to us, it's only because Belichick has spent 15 years conditioning us to think that way.

Since 2003, the Colts have used first round picks on: Marlin Jackson, Joseph Addai, Anthony Gonzalez, Donald Brown, Jerry Hughes, Anthony Castonzo, Andrew Luck, Bjoern Werner, Trent Richardson (trade), and Phillip Dorsett.

To this point, the jury's obviously out on Dorsett. Luck is obviously a hit, and also the most un****up-able sure thing since Peyton Manning. Castonzo has evolved into a decent LT, which makes him worth the pick.

The rest have all been awful picks for the Colts. The best case scenario from that group is that Hughes at least ended up becoming pretty good... for someone else.

Which is why is said next to no elite players. Someone may step up ala Butler, Collins, Hightower, Brown, Easley etc. That is highly unlikely in my opinion.

Arthur Jones has played for Ravens and Colts, 2 of teams I hate most in the league. I hope he signs with someone else next year.

The colts D can't plug a running nose, let alone a running game.

In all fairness tho, doubt they take back the Addai pick. Had a huge role in a SB win. Marlin Jackson too actually....minor tho.

I heard they just signed a wide receiver to replace him.

Really? "Next to zero talent" on EITHER side of the ball??????

You haven't seen their WR stable, have you?

.

Stable? Don't know what roster you are are looking at. Ty Hilton is it. A. Johnson is a slightly better upgrade over Wayne and their TEs don't exactly scare me.

Their receiving core vs the Pats. Choose. QB irrelevant.

They really wanted maroney. Advantage Colts. drafting is only one aspect anyway. Their failure to address weakness through the draft, FA or bargain FA, is their downfall.

If you can't defend, you put your QB in desperate situations constantly, and he could end up like Jim Plunkett.

Soft D. They can't afford to lose many more on D, yet I wonder "can they really get worse vs the run" ?

Sympathy for the player.

LOLs for the Colts.

BTW . . . you should change that avatar to the "big real-mouth smile nightmare Brady." I know that picture is floating around Reddit somewhere. . . . :p

haha, good suggestion

Jones needs surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left ankle. The six-year pro suffered the injury during last Saturday's preseason game in St. Louis against the Rams.
The good news is he wasn't in pain very long, as there just happened to be an abundance of prescription painkillers in the Edward Jones Dome that night. What a lucky coincidence.

Arthur probably needs to cut a lot of weight. If so, he will not be a run stuffing DT.
