DRAFT Cole Strange-Welcome to the Pats

This is next level homerism. We passed on several 1st round graded players and reached for an OG so we could make other teams burn picks?!?

Another troubling aspect of this pick is Belichick on record saying Strange "wouldn't have lasted much longer" ...what a complete lack of awareness. Bill, your pick is being publicly laughed at by your peers.

Thank you, Sir!

And yes...the Bills and Chiefs were in a "reverse" arms race right there...we got a 3rd/4th out of it and still got our man. On Sundays, our guy will be pancaking D-Linemen and they will be betting on rookie CBs to cover elite WR's in the NFL.

#FoxboroForever!!!
#LFG!!!

We have no idea what they meant. That was my interpretation of their response. McVay does say something about spending all the time scouting the guy as if it was wasted time for them. It gave me the indication he was the guy they were hoping for.

You can concede this point and still kill Belichick if that is what you want. 104 is a lot lower than 29. So even if he was their guy at 104 you can still kill Belichick for drafting him at 29.
I get that and I agree they expressed he was a viable pick for them at 104.

It's already come out that Strange wasn't going to be there at 54. So you claiming otherwise is erroneous. It's also come out that the offers at 29 weren't great.

Had Bill taken a subpar offer, people would be screaming about that.
Where exactly did that come out.

Welcome to the Pats? WTF?

That’s why the guy who made that pick is now unemployed
Not sure if you're implying Gruden, but he is the one that is responsible for Ferrell. In fact, he sent everyone in the front office home a day early so nobody would leak the pick. That was funny.

And no one seems to talk about how Mike Mayok was beloved as an armchair GM, but he was awful when it was time to be a real GM.

Try again. I'm telling you what the talking heads were saying on TV. After the Pats took him at 27th overall, there was a long pause before Mayock goes off on his special teams ability. And there were a lot of people here on this board who were pissed because they wanted the Pats to draft Sergio Kindle.

Mayock says it was a fine pick, and it was a guy who was picked just about exactly where the mocks had him.

Try again.

You won’t admit you were wrong if he does… I’ll try to remember to come back to remind you.
Wrong about what? He could be a Pro-Bowler and it still was not a good deal to trade Mason + 1st for Strange + 6th

Hey, one thing that has worked out well for BB & Co. is they regard the mentality/character as highly as physical traits. Which means we don't have a lot of guys flaming out early because of stupid life decisions (Hernandez aside). Strange appears to be another very solid human with good ethics and potential captain material by the time Andrews leaves.

Why? It was a position of need and may have been drafted at the time that he would have gone off the board.
Because G wasn’t the biggest need and was a need that was easier to fill in the later round.

I could care less about strange but it’s cool Mac will get sack less but we will still get destroy by the Bills and probably by the dolphins now but ok everything is fine

I just heard on the radio that the Bucs and Titans had first round grades on Strange. The Bucs are the first selection today.
The Bucs don't need an early round G after landing Shaq Mason.

And yes...the Bills and Chiefs were in a "reverse" arms race right there...we got a 3rd/4th out of it and still got our man. On Sundays, our guy will be pancaking D-Linemen and they will be betting on rookie CBs to cover elite WR's in the NFL.
They won't have that problem when playing the Patriots.

Here I was hoping Belichick would trade up to snag one of the 1st round WRs. There are still some highly graded WRs left but you would think they have to go defense with their 2nd round pick.

Mayock says it was a fine pick, and it was a guy who was picked just about exactly where the mocks had him.

Try again.

LOL no, he said he was a good special teams player and a solid pick for that reason.

Right. So that situation has nothing to do with this one. Thank you for finally coming around and admitting that.
