"In fact, one of them told me, ‘Now we know what it feels like to be the Jets and get Muhammad Wilkerson at pick No. 30.’”
Those are words that would never ever be uttered in Foxboro.
I have no trouble separating my dislike of Simms from the fact he indeed has longhorn and Patriots connections. I also doubt the patriots would be afraid to note the wilkerson turned out better than his draft spot.
Wilfork was a gift,I couldn't believe it.
Wilkerson is a lot more comparable, going 30th. And lots of guys with the Patriots weren't there 11 years ago when Vince was drafted. Some people just have to over think everything and can't accept a comment for what it is. Wilkerson went 30th and was way underdrafted. Brown went 32nd and, hopefully, went way underdrafted. Not difficult to miss the comparison.
I have a few friends who are UT Alumns and bleed burnt orange and gush over Brown.Simms was gushing about Brown right after the draft. I'm sure he's looking at things through burnt orange glasses so he's biased, but the sources are probably legit. "In awe" is probably a bit of hyperbole though. It's still shocking to get a top 15-20 talent at #32 without any injury or character baggage. They should be excited.
I'm not going to lie. The exact moment the Colts pick was read out, I laughed... then began football arousal that the Pats may just get Brown. In the space of one season, the Pats annihilated the Colts three times. Not once, not twice but thrice!I think that the Pats were shocked mostly that Indy ( you know the team that Jonas Gray and LaGarret Blount have run for 600'yards and 11 TDs against in the last three games) passed on him when he fell to the end of the first round. In fact, the Pats had a trade in place for that pick, and then when Brown was still on the board, they jumped on it.
The only way I could see this quote from a Patriots source is if it came from a new employee.
Sometimes I think some of these reporters have a split personality and are quoting themselves as the source. Really doesn't sound like a typical Patriot quote. Normally they down play what a rookie does and you get comments like he has a long way to go.
We really need training camp to get here

Sounds like something from the resumes of volin, Borges and Thomas's.
