Chiefs now vs. us then, is it the same?

People criticize Brady's 1st Super Bowl MVP because of his stats.

Kermit won his first Super Bowl MVP when he put up a 78 rating, sacked 4 times, TD/INT 2/2 and 2 fumbles.

If we want to punch more holes in Kermit, he has an 85 QB rating in SBs

TB12 has 98 QB rating in 10 SBs

That 2006 Colts team didn't look anything resembling a Super Bowl winning team until he came back from injury. Like night and day.
Colts and Pats weren't as strong as they were prior. Chargers were by far the best team in the AFC, but lead by a 1st year starting QB who went on to be a perennial choker. Chargers would've destroyed the Colts had Marlon McCree listened to his coach and hit the ground after the game clinching INT.

Brady also won a 1st year starter (2nd year playing) as opposed to Mahomes 2nd year starting and 3rd year playing.

But the biggest factor was the Patriots were facing a team in the Rams who had already won the Super Bowl in 1999 and would've ran through the NFL had it not been for injuries in 2000. The 2001 Rams team was the final boss nobody thought anyone had a chance against. The defense was really the MVP of the game as Brady would've been overwhelmed had the Rams played like they did late in the 4th quarter. Leading an offense and scoring 13 points shouldn't have awarded him the MVP.

It's not even close. The Pats did their work even getting slammed by the NFL and losing picks. They had much better competition to go through including media darlings such as Manning, and Mahomes. They, against all attempts to compare them, never had the level of NFL help the Queefs do. I remember field goals over the upright called no good. I remember Gronk getting mugged in the end zone and nothing.

Hell I remember Gronk being held on every route he ran. Did they get some iffy calls here and there. Of course they did, but it wasn't out of the norm and nothing compared to how much the NFL holds the Chiefs' hands.

Edit to add I firmly believe Faulk got the first down in Indy on that 4th and 2. If it was the Chiefs, they get that call. Period.

Why are we crapping on the Chiefs' accomplishments? Oh, right, insecurity. It's time to get over it.

Hate the Chiefs if you must, but don't act like we're not witnessing something historic.

We'll always have Brady's 2 - 0 playoff record against Mahomes.

N'Keal Harry is called in bounds which he was... that likely is a win over KC, Pats get a bye and maybe changes the complexion of the playoffs.

And if jesse james is ruled a catch the steelers are number 1 seed with HFA instead of the patriots. There's always something that could change a season for the better or worse.

True but it wasn't a catch by rule as convoluted as those rules are. Harry absolutely was in bounds, TD.

The official on that side admitted he couldn't get a good look at it because he was blocked by defenders. Earlier the Pats used a challenge on a terrible spot by the officials so they couldn't challenge this one.

That last part is definitely true - this call had a major impact on not just this game but how the season played out after that.

I think it's clear to steelers fans that he completed the catch, turned and reached the ball out. and made 2 football moves necessary for a catch. It's clear that one of the worst roughing calls ever and an offsides penalty changed the Chiefs afccg. And who knows what happens if the chiefs win the coin toss. And edelmans catch probability had to be near zero. The falcons win with a middle school offensive coordinator.

The point is that the patriots might have won a couple more and the patriots could have won as few as 2 if a couple things shake out different. People forget that the patriots had some luck as do all super bowl champs.

I'm sure they think so. By common sense it was a catch but by rule it was not so since it didn't survive the ground. Ball clearly moved there. Not going to argue it because I think the rules for a catch in this league are convoluted and dumb.

Well, he was offsides it wasn't like it was a bad call. I thought Jones smacked Brady downward in the facemask, that's going to get flagged more than not even if it's not that egregious.

I'm happy the Chiefs didn't win the coin toss and you can guess why.

Yes they did have some luck their way for sure, the tuck rule being one example. Also some luck against them. Edelman's catch made up for Tyree's.

That's fine, but if this board feels that was a legit call then they should back off on the Mahomes getting roughed whining.

It was a gay call
Just like all the calls favoring the Queefs are gay as well.
But teams should never leave it to the officials to bail them out

I agree. But that's not the sentiment of this board anymore.
Yeah the Billdos had their shot but they couldn't get it done. They're just the Queefs *****es. It is what it is they can't beat them. Allen had the ball with 3 minutes and change to take the lead and he only mustered 17 yards what a fraud

Also if you feel that it's rigged just put the mortgage on the Queefs Moneyline at your local sportsbook and make some $$.

Brady won the AFCGG against the Chiefs with a 77 rating compared to Mahomes 117. Rating may be the stupidest way to compare quarterbacks ever devised.

Yup.
Baker Mayfield of all people has the all time postseason passer rating lmao

  • Wow!
Reactions: sb1
The Chiefs are on the middle of it all so we'll need to wait until Andy Reid retires at the very least to make this judgement.

I keep hearing illogical arguments though.

The Patriots sustained success over 20 years. That's quite a record.

I do wonder how Mahomes is going to do after Reid.

Historically, really good/great quarterbacks have done pretty ok with whatever coach. Manning with Kubiak and Fox, Brady with Ariens, Young with Seifert, Brees to the Saints, Elway with Shanahan...

I'm sure it has happened but I can't really think of a great quarterback that flopped because of a coaching change. I suppose Cowboy fans might say Aikman.
