Don't want a repeat of what happened with RGIII.I would guess decision time on operation or not. I would take operation and rest for the future. Kid's still young and has a future. They try to play him, he's liable to get worse. WTF do I know about this sh^&t.
I like Mahomes, but I’d be remiss to not point out the number of times someone on Chiefs Planet has wished a knee injury on Brady. Disgusting crowd there.
Basically he could come back in 3 weeks but he would have to change the way he plays. Can’t do the dancing outside of the pocket and throwing downfield, he would become more of a pocket passer or he could get surgery and come back like his old self next year. Obviously Mahomes is going to want to come back but Clark Hunt and Reid will want to protect their quarterback.Don't want a repeat of what happened with RGIII.
Desperate people. They’ve been burned by #12 so many times. And it’s Fresh : NE was ripe for the picking last season... burned again.This. I actually used to like the chiefs, but the amount of times I've seen many of the posters over there actually sincerely hope Brady gets injured is disgusting. I like mahomes and think he's good for the league. I'm also happy that some of those bad sports on that board get to sleep crappy tonight.
$10 says that if Elway stays around as their GM he overpays in a trade for Mariota.
I think he’s beyond help at this point. The hits have already piled up. He’s never been a smart runner like Wilson, and that’s hurt his career trajectory.I know it is not particularly popular and timing wise unlikely but I'd be interested to see what BB/McDaniels could potentially do with Mariota especially now that he will be available for damn cheap. I think his strengths would line up nicely with the offense here in NE.
I hope Stidham works out and we never get to see it but it still leaves me curious.
How is that injury not a season ender?? It would have been if he was a WR.
Mahomes has big money on the horizon as well.Chao ahead of the curve here with a comprehensive write up on Mahomes injury. Initial reports are that he dislocated, but probably did not fracture his kneecap or tear a major ligament. If the damage is in fact more severe (MRI tomorrow) , it’s likely a season ender. But let’s go with initial reports and assume it’s just a dislocated kneecap and nothing more.
Chao gives a strong argument that even this best case scenario is still very troubling news. He seems to suggest missing the season may still be the best option, as he will definitely need surgery at some point. If he gets it now, his long-term prospects are excellent. If he plays through it, he takes on major risks. In addition, he will likely be very limited in his scrambling ability if he opts to play this season. One more note is that Mahomes walking on it and commenting that he thinks he’s okay does not mean much. After the swelling goes down it will be a different story.
So the hot take will likely be that Mahomes (If MRI is okay) May return in 3 weeks or so and the Chiefs dodged a bullet. The missing context (already from some reporters) is that he would still need surgery, would wear a brace to keep his knee in tact, would not be the same player, and assumes a massive risk for the rest of the season. This sounds very RGIII-like in the way it is presented as an “available / unavailable” simple diagnosis, when in fact it is absolutely not.
Patrick Mahomes will need surgery on knee, sooner or later

I have to imagine that's what his representation is telling him.Mahomes has big money on the horizon as well.
If he were smart he'd take his time
We'll see. I think season-ending surgery is off the table. I just don't know how you do load management like you can with say, Todd Gurley and his arthritis.
Was it confirmed it's not season-ending? MRI is today I think?I have to imagine that's what his representation is telling him.
I mean, this is not the last time this will happen. He's always been at risk for this injury, that's why he wears a sleeve brace on his knee. Even if he does have surgery, it's not going to cure it permanently.
If he wants that big contract, he's going to have to change how he plays, or he's going to spend more time injured than on the field.
I think he sits until the Patriots game, maybe the week before, that will give his ankles (which looks to be another chronic issue) a chance to heal up a bit.

I think even if he has surgery, it's not going to fully correct the problem. That is to say, he's still at risk for this happening again, so as long as his artery isn't at risk, there's not really any point, other than just pulling the plug on the whole season. What makes you say that ?
It is. I think if the artery was at risk, they would have rushed him to a hospital, that's potentially life-threatening.Was it confirmed it's not season-ending? MRI is today I think?
