check out our negative effective cap space for 26

We're at +56 right now (effective cap space, including estimate for draft picks) and excess is carried over. So we will likely carry over 10s of millions. 20-30M carryover I would guess.

The salary cap in 2026 is projected to be 311M. Even if it comes under at 305M that still gives some breathing room.

We’ll see how much we roll over. The other thing to consider is how many true contributors are already under contract, we will have alot compared to other teams so less players needed to sign or re-sign. Some of those teams at the top in space might only have like half of their quality starters under contract for 2026.

So far for us strange and marcus jones look like our only guys who might require a sizable extension, and we may be able to just draft their replacements next year if we let them walk. possibly chaisson and gibbens if they really overachieve, but we could bargain bin shop there too considering their towards the lower end at their positions. Other teams probably have way more to resign before they get to the actual fa spending.

Most of the big salaries this year can be converted to bonuses and spread out... void years can be added (or not) ... Or guys can be released... Onwenu & Dugger for example have no guaranteed money left after the 2025 season... Prime cut or extension candidates right there...

Diggs could be a 1 year rental win now type player assuming Wolfe drafts a 2025 WR that can step in and replace him.

Diggs 2026 salary jumps to 20 million @ 33 years old. His Cap number goes from 9 million in 2025 to 26. 5 million in 2026.

Just sayin.

Nothing to worry about here. Plenty of contracts that can be restructured or players cut that we don’t need. Plus the cap will go up.

All contracts seem to be included other than removing Bentley for 2025.
Would you rather have players or cap space?
Over 30 mill will probably be carried forward, which is reasonable to cover the year 2 jump on a huge free agent class.

I'm not going to sweat 2026 before the 2025 season.

The Dead Money column should be broken into two: regular players, and washed up QB mistakes. Love seeing Aaron R haunt the Jets going forward.

EFFECTIVE is actually around 42 mill.
Cap space is 64.2 Using Miguel’s estimate we subtract 26 from that to get to effective cap so that’s 38.2 and Bentley cut willl be net +3.6
So 41.8.

They are slightly over for next year but have the most space still this year. Once rollover happens into 2026 they will likely be around middle of the league. They also have several contracts signed this year that are easy simple restructure options to open up some space next year if there are guys they want to target.

Yes, we are in a very reasonable position for 2026 with the likely rollover of $20M-$30M.

I would note that it seems unlikely that will make any additional major signings, although I could see a mid-level signing or two or three before camp (especially at DL and RB).

OFC you knew that when you created the thread
Can't say I blame you for tweaking the "gotta spend it" and "cheap" crowds though.
Well played sir, well played.

It’s really great to see that Kraft chose to spend enough to compete this year.

I want Diggs AND someone as his #2 for 2025 and 2026 and 2027, someone better than what we have.

If Diggs isn't here for 2026, WR will be a major need yet again.

Yeah, like down in Houston.

Perhaps we should see how he bounces back from the ACL before his Pats HOF induction.

$25m for Onwenu and $17m for Dugger might be on the chopping block in '26.
Yep. Starting this year with Onwenu. His play stands out as the best in the weak OL group we have. But it is diminishing.

As his waist line expands.

Send a spy in the off-season to peek at his morbid obesity. Then trade him for a fourth- or fifth-rounder. That’ll send a message. Show up to camp in shape.
