So while the site was down today I went and had a look to see what Chargers fans were saying. They think that their DB's are good enough to take on our WR's one on one on the outside. They feel this will provide the help required to cover Welker in the slot and Maroney - Faulk.

I think they are crazy. What do you think?

Well if they are rushing both Merriman and Phillips all game with their front three also trying to get pressure (as I've read in some places), and are covering, Moss and Stallworth one on one outside, that is seven of 11 defenders accounted for. That leaves four guys to cover Welker, a TE and/or Gaffney, and a rb.

That is asking a lot, especially if Moss gets a step on Cromartie (sp) even once. There would be no safety help. I say, good luck to them.

Football is not as simple as saying we are going to man up on every down.

1. Players can't go a whole game like that.(some may, but most not)

2. And even if they man up our guys can beat them. All you need to do is beat them 5 out of 60 snaps.

3. I expect the safeties to be deep msot of the game and try what the Jags did but thinking they can actually get pressure with a 4 man rush.

4. The Chargers will utilize zone coverage most of the game. The game of football is predicated on tricking people and attcking their weaknesses.

it's one thing being able to go man on man but another thing how the defense communciates and is coached up. If the safety doesn't pick up the wr in cover 2 for example then the corner looks like he is at fault but it was really the safety.

It's going to be how well the chrgers play as a defense versus how they are individually.

BB will probably give them something they've never seen before or maybe not. Keep in mind our wr's, rb's, even heath evans line up in different spots so either the corners will have to flip or randy moss will have a different corner on him at times. we've even see heath line up wide. this is all done to get the defense to react.

the pats will most likely throw alot and wear out the Shawn's by the third quarter.

we saw that last year.

Cromartie is reaching the overated point pretty quickly here - clearly he's great at turnovers but he also gives the reveivers some room to catch the ball. You can get open on Cromartie - you'd better just make a good throw.

Also, I read that he's like our CB where he plays one side - the right side - so he will be up against Stallworth or Gaffney more then Moss who's mostly on the right side of the offense.

How quickly the Chargers fans forget that Manning just put up 400 yards on their vaunted secondary.
Their secondary has always been viewed as their achiulles heel.

I am just NOT buying it that they have suddenly all become lock down coners.
Moiss can beat ANYONE in this league with man on man coverage and I also think Stallworth will do pretty well.

Hopefully it won't be too windy...because that could be the great equalizer in this game

If neither team can pass because of the wind, to me the game becomes a match up of running and very short passing.

I have a hunch that this game will be extremely close.

Maroney is so key for this game as is Welker.

Might as well give me the lottery numbers for Sunday. They have as good a chance of being right as the weather man on the wind speed 6 days from now.

I saw the topic of this thread and I thought it was about Rivers and LT.

Thankfully, our short passing game is better than theirs. With Gates out or slowed, they mainly have two outside WR and RB. Whereas we have RB but also Watson and Welker. So we should be OK. Also, Brady has had a lot more experience in these kinds of conditions than Rivers or Volek.

We've been mocking "The Blueprint"
ever since Week 12 (Eagles).

Actually, i think the Jags showed what it should be.
Double Moss and re-route him aggressively.
Then hope the rest of your now-undermanned D plays with an overdose of adrenaline and testosterone.
LET THE PATS CHIP AWAY UNDERNEATH. At least then they'll have only 58 offensive snaps
instead of 70+.

When you get the ball, hope you can bring your A-game.
Try to hang close.
Maybe ... some game ... you'll get a couple turnovers, instead of giving them up.

THERE is the key to the Patriots' entire remarkable immaculate season -
very few turnovers!
Partly Brady ... partly the O-line ... partly receivers who at least simply drop it on the few occasions
they don't catch it ... but don't tip it up for a free ball.
Why TB himself is just about the only guy in the backfield who ever puts the ball on the ground anymore
... when Light or Kaczur get beat and he sometimes get strip-sacked.

The Pats can lose the day those fumbles and interceptions happen to turn the other way.
But not until then.

If anyone can explain what they were doing on the sideline with the game on the line yesterday I would love to hear it. If they both start on Sunday they are the biggest ****ies in all of sports.

I am pretty confident the Patriots will win...BUT the 14 point margin is ridiculously high.

During our downtime I tried interacting over at the Colts message board. Man, what a bunch of putzes. Once they realize a pats fan is in they just start talking about asterisks, the little intelligent conversation came to a halt. Classless as their team. Running mouths with little knowledge, oh man I hope we pulverize those Dolts.

Rivers was actually hurt. LT is an excuse machine. Any excuse to not play, any excuse for losing, and he thrives. I hope they keep him to under 50 yards rushing.

Did you watch the Colts game or are you just one of those people who looks at the stats afterwards and tries to interpret what happened? If you'd watched it you'd know that almost all of Manning's yards were gains up the middle and to his 3rd, 4th, and 5th receivers. Wayne and Harrison barely caught anything all night because Cromartie and Jammer shut them down. I see the same happening when we play the Patriots which is why it's so important to put pressure on Brady so that he doesn't kill us with short passes to Welker, Gaffney, and Faulk.

Shutting down Harrison wasn't much of a trick. How many times was he thrown to? Once? We'll take 400 yards in dump-offs any day -- the difference is Brady won't turn the ball over.

Wayne was 7-76 with a TD. Not bad. Harrison was out a lot and Gonzalez had 79 yards and a TD. And we just happen to have the best 3rd/4th WR/TE group (as a group) in the league. So I'm not sure where you're going with that.

Good one.

Looks like most of the guys didn't get it.:bricks:

Chargers DBs (douche bags).. at least this is what I think you meant. If it wasn't, you still get the credit
