Cooper is getting well north of 4 million this year, but is only counting 2+ against the pats' cap.
Wrong. That is not how the salary cap works.
Cooper's salary cap number was $4,629,227 with Arizona. That included a salary of $675K, a roster bonus of $1,716,954 and a signing bonus pro-ration of $2,240,273.
The signing bonus pro-ration is money that Cooper received in his rookie year. It is not money that he is being paid currently. Also, the signing bonus pro-ration stays with the team that gave him the signing bonus. That team is Arizona.
So, the Patriots will only be paying Cooper his $675K salary and the roster bonus of $1.719M.
