Challenge the Bills

It was just one of the many reasons why he was fired so quickly. I'm sure fans of other team laugh at how bad Mayo was just like we'd laugh at other teams bad coaches during the golden years. Mayo and Jim Tomsula are the worst HC's in the last 20 years.

Jeff Saturday was a worse hire than either of them. He wasn’t qualified to coach a high school team.

I was all for firing Mayo. In terms of saying we have the best roster in the division…well, why stop there Andy. Back to back 4 win seasons be damned, we got the best roster in the league! And not just the best roster in the league, the best Patriots roster ever!!

I think some of us just think it’s best to play some games before declaring a 4 win team has the best roster in the division.
That’s not what the poster said. He said he believes we have the best roster in the division.
This is not the same roster that won 4 games.

If you don’t have the confidence in your ability to assess the roster until after you have results to do it for you, that’s the, but there’s no reason to trash the poster who does.

I agree they aren’t a 4 win team this year, and if things fall right maybe we can push for a playoff spot, but as of right now we have too many question marks and a lack of depth to say we have the best roster in the division, especially since the Bills have been toying with us for the last 5 years. Let’s earn it first.
The Bills have no question marks? The last 5 years don’t count toward this year, the Bills aren’t better today just because they have been for 5 years.
It’s an option, yours is no better than his but you come off as if he is not allowed to have one.

No trashing Andrew. Don’t get your panties in a twist.

Weak. If you are gonna take a position stand behind it. Or admit you are wrong.

I...don't care what his intention was.
He came off sounding like a buffoon, like he did so many other times in his short tenure.

I suspect that behind the scenes, Mayo's dysfunction proved 10 times worse than what we saw. The Krafts realized that and acted accordingly. I keep coming back to the fact Jerod is not coaching ANYWHERE this coming season, which speaks to his lack of passion/dedication.

We all saw it with his weekly sound bites. I've never seen a coach act the way he had on a weekly basis. I'm not sure what made Kraft feel confident about Mayo being the HC when it was reported BB did not sign off it in 2023.

He doesn't count as he was basically doing it as a favor and came straight from TV. He also beat McDaniels his first game and was on pace to win 2 games which was only one away from Mayo's 3 in 16 games.

I thought BB was unaware of Kraft's HC succession plan as specified in Mayo's contract. Maybe he was?

I don’t think Mayo wants to coach again. He was talked into it by Belichick years ago, but I don’t think it was ever in his blood. He got his buyout by Kraft, and should be set for life, and can pursue other avenues if he wants. I doubt we’ll ever see him coach again.

He’s busy working on that lawsuit with his wife or something…or she is…I dono. Whomever wears the pants is…

Mayo was on record years ago regarding his ambition to become an NFL head coach. He was going to interview with the Panthers before the 2023 season but canceled when Kraft intervened and contractually anointed him BB's eventual successor. After that, Jerod reportedly was less than loyal to BB and the two grew distant during Bill's last season.

One obvious problem was Mayo's mistaken belief in being ready for HC duty with limited experience as an assistant. He might have thought the job would be easier than it turned out and had a rude awakening. If he STILL has head coaching aspirations he'd need to put in more work learning the ropes as perhaps a defensive coordinator. That would mean humbling himself through more years as an "underling," which his ego might not accept.

I was talking about when he got into coaching. He was talked into it by BB, and quite his jobs in media and finance. Once he was in, he tried to make the climb into head coaching where the money is.

I just don’t see him trying to get back into it. He saw how hard it is and how many hours it takes. He’s on a multi-million $ payout from Kraft. I doubt he’ll want to come back as a position coach or co-ordinater and work his way back up like other coaches have. And to add to it, his reputation sucks right now.
