Seriously a very decent pick for #58.
A tough kid (SG) who is a bit undersized ... 6'2"
could end up being a nice 10-15 minute a game scorer in a few years.

The first men's player in Division I history to record a quadruple-double, with 25 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals in a 116-74 win over Division II Central Baptist College. Academic problems kept him from landing on a major college team.

Positives:

Big-time scorer
Very quick
Good athlete with good strength
Amazing getting the ball to the basket
A good shooter with NBA 3-point range
Has a good feel for the game and can play the point guard position
Excellent rebounder for his size
An excellent pickpocket, among the nation's leaders in steals.

Negatives:

Turned 24 years old in August
Has had very little exposure against top competition
Turns the ball over a lot
A bit of a tweener

This is impressive ... got to root for this kid to make it even if just a reserve.

Given his upbringing in a rough Memphis neighborhood, Hudson was a longshot to make it this far. He didn't graduate from high school or Southwest Tennessee Community College in his hometown, where he played his first two seasons.
Hudson had to pay his own way at Tennessee-Martin while sitting out a year

Doesn't sound too promising to me, he'll be tearing it up for the Maine Red Claws in Portland for a year or two before we see him in Boston...if they don't trade him first.

The odds of making it in the NBA are unmatched in any professional sport; the Lakers dumped their pick (#29) for 3 million clams because they felt there was noone there worth taking.

So, there are only 28 players coming out of college this year who have a shot at the pros?

Think of all the kids playing on all the college basketball teams in the country and how many of them have a legit shot at not only making the NBA, but starting and being a superstar.

It is incredible, and also incredible that Kobe, Lebron, KG, etc, etc went strait to the pros from HIGH SCHOOL, with Lebron/Kobe being 1/2 as far as top stars in the NBA.

Amazing.

As far as the Celtics pick, might as well have been Kate Hudson................

I think the Lakers were attempting to avoid a luxary tax situation actually so wanted to avoid a guaranteed salary - but the point is still the same - Hudson probably has as much chance of making it in the NBA as whoever was picked at 29, 19., maybe even #9 for all I know.
