Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Absolutely brutal loss, maybe the worst this season. Bad play from Holiday and Queta at the end of regulation/OT.

Queta should have been pulled after he lost a jump ball to Trae Young. Proceeded to wander out to the perimeter twice defensively which cost us and then failed to rebound a free throw. Ugh. Kornet should have been playing.

This is what happens when you don't/can't bring in new blood. Got a bad feeling about this team now. Something is way off.

Especially new blood at the Big positions.

The Brad needs to very, Very seriously consider making a Big splash trade...

You stole my thunder.. I've been saying it.. vujavic is available in Chicago.. get him.. he can protect the rim.. hit the 3, pass the ball and is younger than KP.. we need some size and youth at the wing positions especially coming off the bench. Look at the size on Atlanta

I like vujavic but KP is better. C's also have chemistry with KP.
But vujavic stays on the floor more.
KP has been playing very well. He's still not 100% but getting there. Mazzula doing a good job managing his minutes and games. If we have KP fully healthy playing the entire playoffs, I still think we win another title.
OKC is the biggest roadblock and they have Chet back soon. KP is not the guy I'd trade now.

Any Globe subscribers out there?
Curious about recent article that apparently lists FSG as one of the potential bidders for the Celtics.

It's been reported, and quite frankly not surprising. Doubt they have a chance, I'd think it's gonna be some gaziilionare that wants to win titles.

Revenues form residuals of winning titles should far outweigh any cost incurred by salary penalties.

Porzingas isn't the one I would consider trading; we need More Bigs, not fewer of them.

Can you expand on this?

Well you get all the perks that come with it. You can charge more for ticket prices, more people show up on the road which I am pretty sure increases attendance and I believe the team gets a portion of those sales. Then you have all the marketing revenue, merchandise sales etc. Winning titles is a financial boon for most teams.

Cs are going to have to determine if it worth it to keep a skilled big man around who's 31.. often injured or go after a just as skilled younger player who's more durable..

As much as I appreciate all that Porzingas did last year to help the C's win it all, he's an injury waiting to happen. To be honest, I was not even a fan of the contract extension they gave him last year. While $30 Million/year seems like a "deal" in today's NBA, there is no reason to believe that he'll be worth that if he spends most of his time on the sidelines.

Let's be honest with ourselves... they won last year despite KP's absence. He played in a total of 7 playoff games, with several of the later ones seeming to be just to say, "He contributed to our championship". He played in 7 of 19 playoff games and didn't really do a whole lot in those games. His best night was game 1 against the Mavs, where he scored 20 points and pulled down 6 rebounds, all on the defensive end.

His biggest weakness is his lack of offensive rebounds. In those 7 playoff games last year, he had 4 offensive rebounds in total. So out of 31 rebounds, only 4 of them were off the offensive glass. For a big man, that kinda sucks.

Why wouldn't you want him around? When he plays, they win a lot of their games. No; I'm advocating trading somebody else entirely.

I do want him around cap.. he's a great player but injury prone. Injury prone means you can't depend on him to be durable.. the C front office knows this. If we do trade someone than it needs to be for a athletic, physical 6'9 wing player.

Missed the 1st half vs. GS but watched entire 3rd quarter.
Total dominance. Every Celtic got whatever shot they wanted whenever they wanted it.
43 pts. C's up 35. Get right game.
Great start to tough road trip. 5 games in 7 days. Brutal. Last Western trip was awesome going 3-1.

Or for an athletic, physical 6’11” Rebounder…

I've resigned myself to the fact this team plays focused, smart, and hard when they absolutely need to. It's going to be like this all year until the playoffs come.

They are a veteran team that's played alot of basketball. Go figure J.brown J. Tatum have never missed the playoffs since they were drafted remarkable. That is alot of wear and tear on them. They deserve to be given some slack. Is why I would like Brad to go after a 6'9 wing defender, guy who can hit shots and defend and rebound. Hauser and Quata for McDaniels in Minnesota please!
