Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

First off, I don't think the money works. Butler is making a ton of money. Jrue is not a one-for-one salary swap (Butler is due ~$33 Million & Jrue is due ~$22 Million). Butler is also in the last year of his contract and will want a lot of $$ to stay. Jrue is signed until 2028.
I understand, it's not one-for-one. "we trade Holiday with either Walsh/Peterson/Springer".
Butler is almost a year older than Jrue and seems to be getting injured rather frequently these days.
I thought Butler was 2 years older. Regardless...the idea is giving the Heat a younger player.
Butler seems to be a bit of a headcase and I highly doubt he'd gracefully accept Pritchard starting in front of him. After all, this is the guy who told everyone that if he had played against the C's when his Heat were swept last year, they would've won. I'd say that's someone who thinks a little highly of himself.
I can't speak to that as I don't know him but your point is taken. JMO but I think he wants to win which is a reason for him wanting to leave.

But Walsh/Peterson/Springer added together wouldn't be $11 Million? Peterson is on a two-way contract and doesn't even count against the cap right now.

Someone can correct me, but I don't think the Celtics have any space on the cap. I think the only way they could get Butler is to give up Jaylen Brown or Jason Tatum. They're the only two players who match up with Butler's salary.

They could still do with adding a pair of young, springy legs up front to help rebound all the misses from the Three-Chuckers.
The three chuckers won a World Championship..

You guys are nuts with this trade talk. KP, Kornet, Horford, Queta is not matched by any other team in the League. You don't mess with that. They've take a bit of a break in an odd December schedule, with their eyes on this road trip. Every championship team has had lulls in its play the following year. It is not a predictor of playoff success.

Butler?! Nobody wants him on this team. Where would the minutes come from? I'm not giving up Pritchard minutes for that guy. They are total opposites; one brings energy, consistent PIA defense, and selfless offense to the game. The other does the opposite.

I agree. No-one really wants Butler. Just chatting.

I actually dislike him. But i would enjoy the anger from Heat fans if we won this season with Butler.

I am not a fan of Butler either. There's a reason he's been suspended prior to the Heat trading him. I wouldn't trade anyone for him.

We were just spitballing. No harm with that.

Send Butler to the Knicks. I don't like how well they've jelled. NYC/NJ teams seem cursed this century so something needs to happen to disrupt it.

I don't know what team you're watching, but there are at least 7 Three-Chuckers on the Celtics.

I think we should trade all of the Three-Chuckers. They are bad for team moral. It is always best to start by trading the Three-Chucker ring leader first. It sets an example.

We probably should start a Three-Chuckers Trade Options thread.

Good "measuring stick" game today.

Holiday plus the spare change you found under the couch cushions still won't make the money work.

Yea not good. Shot horribly. 1/2 ass D in the 2nd 1/2
I still can't shake the feeling something is off with the team. Generally brining everyone back doesn't work, ie you need some new fresh blood.

Guess we will find out in May, but just a feeling I have. I hope I am wrong.

We'll see. The starting five have not been together. They'll get to the Finals at a minimum.

The poor communication on defense is jarring and it hurts when most of your team is struggling with dribble penetration.

If those guys aren’t hitting their threes in combination with the defensive miscues that’s gonna be a major problem.

One thing is clear: they are not the best team in the NBA currently. Let’s hope they start to get it together asap.

I think Cs need a trade.. they need another wing scorer/slasher off the bench also a guy like Jacob Poethl in Toronto would really help them down low. Teams like Cleveland, OKC young guns with endless energy and hunger give the Cs problems. Cleveland worries me in the east.
