Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Yeah well they did it again tonight. Yeah I get it, no Tatum but this team is starting to smell like they don't have it in them this year. Something is missing.
They'll be fine. They need to get healthy, play together and be smarter about shot selection.

Two things i've noticed......They are not as efficient from 3 this year- especially Jru and Brown. Might be due to KP being out and assists are down from last year. Too much iso ball.

No KP is absolutely having an impact.

I wonder if Pritch needs some time off or if he is hurt. He has sucked ass the last 3 games.

Brown and KP's 3pt pct is horrible this year. Both have great midrange games as well as paint games. The majority of both their shots should come from those places. KP is at his best when he's backing down defenders and hitting that short- range jumper. He doesn't miss that much. It's much more efficient offense than jacking up 3's. And JB is at his best when he's working that midrange game or driving. ( of course his very best is in transition where he continues to be one of the best in the nba as he has been throughout his career. But I was talking about half court offense).
The other big problem with poor 3pt shooting is it often gives the enemy easy rebounds and ignites their fast break which the C's have struggled with this year.
And you mentioned Jrue- he can hit the corner 3( but who can't) but he's best offensively when backing down defenders. He's not only strong as a bull but he has a lot of veteran quick moves near the hoop.
Shooting a high volumes of 3's is only good if you're taking good shots.
3 pt shooting is not the biggest offensive strength of the C's: it's the fact that they usually have 4 or 5 guys on the court who can all beat you in a variety of ways: off the dribble, iso, midrange, finishing at the rim, 3's and passing. They need to use ALL their strengths.

So even the NBA is admitting that their refs are screwing over the Celtics: L2M Report

They admit to two blown calls that affected the Celtics:

Comment:Queen (ORL) initiates illegal contact to Brown (BOS) during his jump shooting motion.
Q401:32.0 Foul: PersonalJalen SuggsDerrick WhiteINCVideo

“He’s in Latvia. He’s starting to do more and more and more,” Stevens said. “He was in a boot for a while there, but every indication is he’s progressing well and he’s on the right timeline. But it’s going to be a while.”

Don't laugh me off the forum but I think it may be Time to possibly look at a trade. Porzingas is absolutely a big difference when healthy.. however he's 30 and injury prone. I'd look to move him for poehtl in Toronto or vujavic in Chicago. We need a rim protector someone who can be a constant presence underneath and step out and hit shots that is reliable.

A lot of regressing performances from pretty much everyone not named Jayson Tatum. Brown has had a few bad games mixed with some great games but we know he has some inconsistency during patches in the regular season.

KP, Horford, DWhite (shooting looked better last night), Jrue, Hauser. We need those guys to find their momentum again at some point.

I haven’t watched many games this season but I think they have an issue with effort on defense.

Kevin House agrees and so do I. They aren't forcing TOs and there is zero rim protection.

Agreed. I will say again. They need to really look into trading porzingas.. vujavic in Chicago or Jacob Poertlh in Toronto. Celts need more effort on perimeter defense. Different guys out the line up past few weeks affects the rotations.

Your 7 footer rim protector is always out the line up..
They are off-kilter. There is zero lineup consistency.

If I were Mazz, i'd play Queta for 25 min a night and bring KP off the bench. He'll give you 10/10/2/1 consistently.

If I were Brad, I'd be trading for a low-cost back-up centre/spot starter like Nick Richards or Day'Ron Sharpe (in my mind, Kornet is an end of the roster guy). Forget a three point shooting 5. Put someone mobile out there who can rebound and defend.

I'm not high on Queta. Too often, he looks lost or is slow to react on the court.

Maybe but they miss his athleticism defensively.

Agreed. That's a good formula KP his entire career this has been the one knock on him he's just a big guy and is prone to lower leg and foot issues. He's such a huge difference maker defensively when he's in there. I say package quata, hauser and a pick for poerthl in Toronto. Watch what he does against us today. He originally was a pick by pop in San Antonio..

Easy game today for a change.
Wanna see some defense.

I asked for defense...
...C's responded by holding Raptors to
35 pts in the 1st half. Repeat 1st half

Don't care if it's the lowly Raptors enjoying the hell out of this game.
C's numbers are just ridiculous on both O and D.
Walsh has really come on over the last several games and has played much better than Peterson. That wasn't the case before but good to see. Walsh has potential to be a solid contributor.
