Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Hauser is developing a nice little midrange game.

Impressive win. Chasing the record 3 was funny.
They look like the team we saw in the Finals. Except Tatums 3 pt shot is better.
You can see ge really worked on it.
Gonna be fun watching these guys again this year.

They look like a well-oiled machine. I predicted the Celtics aren’t going to set the record once they started hunting for it.

But hey my only complaint possible is that PP & Hauser’s percentages plummeted in that fourth quarter? Pretty great start to the season!

One game in, but some noticeable changes:

-White is more aggressive on offense. This was apparent in the preseason as well. Looking for shots more now. Still not forcing but more alert on 3 attempts and also driving a bit more.

-Brown continuing to make better decisions on offense and is a beast on defense. Brown has become somewhat of a super glue guy like White…crazy.

-Tatum…well…if he can just increase his shooting pct by a few points, and reduce turnovers, he’s legitimately in conversation for best player in NBA. So tonight was promising. His shots just looked different. Even in some of his better games in the past, his jumper always seemed imprecise.

-Hauser had worked on the fake and dribble jumper and early returns are good.

DWhite from when he arrived in Boston now has improved so much its crazy. He was already damn good but now he's All-Star level with his confidence. Was last season too.

Was reading a Reddit thread about the KAT-Randle trade and the most liked comment was something like: “I can’t recall ever seeing such a huge blockbuster trade where two prime contenders both instantly got worse.” The players just don’t really mesh with the teams.

In Game 1, Randle looks as out of place in MN as Towns in NY. DiVincenzo might be a decent addition though.

I loved the two announcers (who I'm pretty sure are both NYers) raving about the Knicks chemistry, how awesome it was and they play the right way, no egos, just winning (interrupting to mutter 'Tatum for 3 and the Boston lead is now 29) and then going back to the Knicks knob polishing.

That take was aging pretty poorly in real time but I do like Harlan and Reggie Miller. They were hilarious during the whole three point hunting sequence.

Rewatched game. Celtics appear to have changed their offense inn a great way. Maybe it’s just opponent but it looks purposeful.

33 assists, 3 turnovers. I doubt they had any games last season close to this.

-The offense runs through Derrick White. That is, he is the point guard (or Holiday if White is out.) Upon getting a rebound/inbound, every other Celtic hits White and he pushes the ball down the court. There’s no more “by committee” point guard situation.

-The offense runs through the top of the key. Usually this is initiated by Tatum or Brown receiving a pass and getting an immediate high screen from the big, creating space to dribble and create.

-When a player receives the ball and isn’t near center of court, he immediately shoots, and if there’s no shot, passes. Very sparse dribbling. When there is dribbling, it’s down the center. The offense resets at top of the key.

-There is basically no more midrange or elbow or midrange perimeter offense where Tatum or Brown backs down a defender with an iso, often getting trapped. It’s more of a last resort bailout.

-The tempo is much faster.

As Reggie Miller mentioned a few times last night, the Tatum & Brown revenge tour. Look out!

Love the well let's just wait for the Knicks to figure it out. Figure what out? They aren't going to challenge the Celtics, no matter how much they may want them to.

They don't have a Brown and Tatum. Never mind everything else.

0-13 their last 3-point attempts while seeking the single-game record...

That's gonna happen during a road PO game, and it's gonna cost them.

Good game, turned on 98.5 today while out and about.. Bertram was *****ing and moaning about how he did not like the rings; too big, did not like the removable piece, did not like what was written, preferred a smaller ring blah, blah, blah.
Went to pandora.. sportstalk has become nothing for loathing, lying and hyperbole. Is has become unlistenable..
