Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

That was the game that should break Dallas. They got everything they needed. Better defense, the crowd behind them, a decent lead early, good offensive games from their two best players, points in the paint, and they still bleeping lost.

Tillman was a nice surprise off the bench. The moment did not look too big for him. Our house went bananas when he hit that 3. Right now he deserves more minutes as far as I'm concerned. Hauser played his best game I've seen in a while.

Brown is in another stratosphere right now. He has been the best player in the world for the past month. I hope we continue to see this version of him over the next 5 years.

I never imagined I would say this but I can see this being a sweep at this point. It's going to be tough for Dallas to recover from this one.
That Tillman three was the highlight of the game for me. The level of trust for Jaylen to give him the shot was beautiful. Even better was the bench reaction, seeing Tatum lose it with his celebration.

Donkey finally decides he’s gonna play defense for the first time in his career and he finds out it’s hard to do. Credit to the guys offensive prowess. He’s one of the very best there is but like someone mentioned, the way he played there were about 10-12 calls they could have made.

It was just pure genius on Mazzulla for attacking Donkey the way they are. Exposed them so bad on the National stage. The rest of the country might be upset the way this series is going but it’s bitter sweet for us.

Best defensive Celtics team I’ve ever seen in all my years. Wasn’t around to watch Russell.
I saw Russell many times. The greatest defensive player in nba history. And a basketball genius.
Those teams had several excellent defenders, Havlicek, KC Jones and Sanders stand out. C's were always among the best defensive teams.
But overall team defense especially when KP is also on the floor?
I dunno, I think 2024 might be the best ever. KP adds the rim protection but having 4 guys who are all great defenders and can guard almost anybody on the floor interchangeably so you never have to double team - don't think I've ever seen that. And I know I've never seen 4 guys like that who were also premier offensive players.
Brilliant the way this team was put together and coached.

Russell was the king but this team is very deep on defense.

I was worried about Mazzulla at the start of the season but I'm not now.

Donkey looks and plays out of shape. He needs to cut way back on the hay.
Just look at his 4th qtr stats. He is gassed at the end.

Great player but he needs to hit the gym and eat more lean protein.

I was worried about Mazzulla at the start of the playoffs. But after watching a few games, I'm beginning to wonder if all those stupid iso threes Tatum took were just setting up the opposition for this "playoff JT" - the one who gives the ball up almost every other play. If this was planned, it is actually pretty brilliant. Mazzulla is just lucky he had a team around JT that could execute it as well as they are.

This Celtics team is a LOT of fun to watch. Everyone wants to blast Tatum for not taking care over games, but I think the brilliance of the Celtics is that they DON'T rely on any one guy and therefore it's a true TEAM effort...reminds me of the Pistons team that beat the Lakers.

This was a great game. I wish I could've seen it live but I was at Brady Night.

Watching the replay this morning and one thing I hope is that if the Celtics win this championship, they collectively turn to the announcers' booth and flip them all the finger. These announcers sucked. Doncic crying after every single shot or drive and the announcers agreeing with him but when any Celtic gets fouled, they hardly even comment. The Mavs get a dunk and they go crazy. Brown gets that jam at the end of the third and it's "Brown with the flush". Really? That was an incredible jam.

There were some missed calls on both sides but from my view, they missed a whole lot more on the Mavs than the Celts.

Bout time Hauser hit a few. BTW - on his one miss, he was a fouled too.
It's interesting how ESPN is absolutely burying Doncic today.

Anyone remember Dion Radja? He used to smoke on the bench.

This was the worst Luka game I’ve ever seen him play. Horrible defense, inefficient shooting, getting bodied up one on one by Payton Pritchard, fouling out (really should’ve had about 10 of them) and proceeding to be a little ***** and complain about the refs after.
He complained non-stop like a big baby

Luka looks like the assistant medical trainer, who is being investigated because they opened his medical bag and found hundreds of nitrous oxide cannisters.

I can't say I recall Dion Radja but I remember his cousin Dino well . Particularly when he was on his way out and called out Pitino for the lying POS he was/is, arguably his best moment as a Celtic

I don't understand this stat very well. Looking around, it seems that "clutch minutes" are defined as "less than 5 minutes to go with the score within 5". How do the Milwaukee Bucks end up with 10 minutes of clutch time with only one game & how do the Pacers end up with 40 minutes of clutch time in 7 games?

Bucks and Pacers played an OT game against each other. All of OT is included.

A particularly annoying part of Doncic’s whining is how often he fake “laughs” at how bad the calls supposedly are

I love this team. Unselfish. Clutch. Mentally tough. Supremely confident. Fight to the end.

On a lot of levels this really is a likable team. Not the least of which is they are genuinely a team and they play that way. That is, it's not a collection of talent but a cohesive unit. And a fun one to watch at that.

It’s actually pretty hilarious to watch ESPN and the idiots trying to make some sort of beef between Brown and Tatum when it’s so obviously not there
