Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

JB had a good game but I agree the FTs are worse than I've ever seen them. It's in his head which is weird because otherwise he is a confident player. There will be some key ones we need from him in big spots.

At any rate its really nice to put the Heat in the rear view mirror, empathically. They've been a royal pain in the ass for us for years.
What do base good game upon?

I’ve never you base it on anything except point total and shot attempts.

Tatum is playing fine. His shots aren’t dropping. His plus-minus this series was still ludicrously good because he played mostly efficient basketball against the Heat zone.

Brown was 11-19 for 25 points so I guess that’s good. Except he was 1-7 on 3s, 2-5 at the line, and had five turnovers. Surely you understand that this is the equivalent of 25 points on 27 attempts, which is dogshit.

White, on the other hand, also had 25 points. On 13 attempts and 1 turnover, 5 fts. Or the equivalent of 25 points on 17 attempts.

Brown had 16 turnovers and 11 assists this series. Tatum had 9 turnovers and 27 assists.

You put way too much stock in field goal pct and point total which even out over time.

Tatum had a fantastic series giving what the defense gave him. Brown is such an overall liability of a player to put up those splits with the supporting cast he has and going against the Heat JV team. He has no game adaptability. It’s always the same no matter the opponent.

My GOD learn to enjoy a win. 90% of your posts are bash the Jays or lick DWhite's *******. He's been incredible and we all appreciate him, you're not the only one.

I've heard your opinion on Brown a thousand times over, I've acknowledged it and given my responses many times. You're beating a dead horse.

You’re posting that Brown had a “good game” and then expressing concern about Tatum who dominated the series (along with White) because Tatum’s shots weren’t dropping. Learn to evaluate the players a little better.

I'm allowed to say that someone had a good game or bad game and have a different opinion. Sorry that it bothers you so much.

I never expressed concern about Tatum or mentioned him. I'm a big fan of the player and believe in him, unlike you who trashes him most of the time despite the fact that this organization would be nowhere without him other than being bridgies.

That’s dishonest. Expected from you.

Tatum and Brown are two very, very different players.

I’m a huge Tatum fan. That doesn’t mean I’m blind to his late game flaws.

“Huge fan” is quite a stretch based on what I’ve read from you. No one here is blind to his bad last second shot selection. You’ve questioned whether he is actually the best player on the team and repeatedly talked about how selfish he is. That’s your opinion and it’s cool and superstars do tend to be selfish. Stick to your guns, Mr. Huge fan.

And I haven’t been dishonest. I like Brown, I like Tatum. I like the whole team in the way it’s constituted, maybe with the exception of Mazzula. They’ve won 60 games and I continue to root for everyone to play well. I know that’s not the case for you.

I definitely could see you feeling mopey when Brown has a great game and just fixate on spinning why it’s actually the opposite. That’s not how I view my basketball team personally. I’m choosing to enjoy a great team and hope they get to the end and win. To each their own.

Jaylen shot 83.3% from inside the arc that last game. I know it isn't 100%, but it sounds good to me!

This agenda against nerds from UC Berkley... It's entertaining but my gosh maybe save it for when they lose or something. JB7 is a sunk cost - Celts aren't trading nor releasing him during the playoffs. When they lose because Jaylen does something rhymes with cupid, you've got first dibs on props for calling this out! Don't worry! We'll remember. I know it's gonna be hard for us to keep track of "Who on Patsfans thought JB7 sucks and shouldn't be on the Celts?," but I wrote it on a sticky note to help me. I got you, dude!

Your right, forgive me lack of basketball understanding. Even though points are how you win sports games, scoring is the least important statistic.

I bet you put a lot of value in RBIs in baseball too.

Why are the Bucks significantly worse overall with Lillard than Holiday? Lillard is a much better scorer than Holiday. He’s an all nba player and was all star game mvp.

I’m conflicted on whether to root for Indiana or Milwaukee.

That the NBA doesn’t re-seed is one of the most head scratching things in pro sports, but I’d rather play the Magic or Cavs than the Pacers anyway.

Knicks-Sixers was a great first round series, too bad it didn't go seven
It was a great series, but I felt disappointed at the end of the final game when the Sixers were unable to attempt a reasonable 3 pointer to tie the game because they were in the bonus and the Knicks could just keep fouling them on the floor. NBA needs to do
something about that rule.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think the Knicks were trying to foul when there was about 20 seconds left and Embiid went for two. They probably should've just gone for three. If they had a time out left with seven seconds that would've allowed them to get a better shot and if they were fouled it would've been three shots, but it does take some of the excitement out of the end of the game

I think they should just make it simple: a non-shooting foul with less than 5 seconds in 4th Q/OT is one free throw and possession retained, like a technical.

Refs have always allowed more contact in playoffs. It should be that way.
What's important is consistency within a game. Refs need to call the same plays the same way during a game for both teams. Players/ coaches are taking note early in games on how that particular crew is calling the game.
Teams will adjust their play based on this. What causes problems is when refs are not consistent within the same game with their calls.
Just like in baseball when players are learning what the home plate ump's strike zone is.
If it changes from game to game,no problem.
But gotta be consistent within the same damn game.
Agreed on the reffs. On the series this projects to be a Collison course with the Knicks.. come the ECF.. honestly the Knicks are a dangerous team. Things are not going to be easy...especially with KP down..

The difference with the pacers they have so many guys that can score it's not just one guy.
