Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

Found this on X…interesting numbers and explains their rotations.

Tatum is deadly with just White (not Holliday, Brown, or Porzingis.) In fact Tatum is a neutral player without White. That pairing is critical and we see a lot of rotations with those two.

Brown needs Porzingis but we kind of know this. Brown also needs White as he drops to -8 without him (but he doesn’t mesh with Holliday.)

Derrick White really is the glue of the team. I think he has actually been their MVP this year given Tatum’s long slump.

(This was not intended to be a negative post about Brown)

Amazing all the breakdowns out there.

TNT broadcasting team talking about Draymond Green for like 15 minutes straight while barely acknowledging Tatum’s injury.

I’ve turned my ankle like that 5-6 times. One time it was broken. Hoping this isn’t bad.

Man that was a bad final possession shot for Tatum.

Great play by White and Holiday down the stretch not enough to overcome another Tatum Brown crunch time confused meltdown. Seen this one way too many times.

I went to bed after Curry got his 5th midway through the 3rd and the Celtics up 13. Nice to get a road win!

Team is mediocre on the road, collapses in the 4th, doesn't play smart (attack the opponent's star player with 5 fouls), reverts to ISO in key spots. Soft. Said it before, not sure they can win with Mazzulla.

They are a drastically different team without Porz

I know it happens, and it is Steph Curry also took a great performanceto do it (similar to how the pacers played against them in the in season tournament..) but that shouldn't be the case against a struggling team. Shouldn't need Prozingis.

Not saying you are making any issues.

Agree. They are better than the Warriors w/o Porz but it seems they play to the level of comp w/o him.

His style is not to overcoach. He's better than last year. You are too critical of him
Me and just about everyone else who has watched him.

Has he gotten better? I am sure he has, as i stated they loaded him up with assistants. To me at this level, with a franchise like the Celtics, those kind of mistakes that plague him last year should not have been made at the pro level.

Last year not calling a timeout when he should have for example is one of them..which he has admitted he should have...that aint over coaching..thats like not knowing what you are doing.

Focusing too much on 3s and not defense last year is another which the media still gets on him about.

To Add. You are probably right. I am too critical of him...I think I get like that a lot watching any kind of bball....

But he..he just irks me..idk what it is, I think.

The warriors are a scratch the Cs just can't seem to itch..and the only thing that really bothered me about last night..was

Somewhere draymond was smiling trolling the Cs n their fans....

He doesn't deserve to be happy about that win. F Draymond.

Irks me too

What I feel from him overall is a lack of control. I feel like with him as coach nobody's really in charge

This game was just a nightmare for Hauser and Tatum. We run away with a double digit win if those guys don’t play like ass.

I understand Tatum did something to his ankle that may have caused him to be tentative with aggressive drives but he was better off facilitating than taking wretched contested shots.

Sam Hauser needs to make those open threes. 0/7 is straight up unacceptable for a guy whose entire game is predicated on making threes. He had about three shots in a row that would have put a nail in the Warriors coffin and not only missed but completely bricked them, wasn’t even close.

I give him a one-off for this game but you might as well bench him for Brissett if he isn’t shooting 40% or at worst, slightly under it. Mazzula should’ve made a change when we saw it wasn’t Hauser’s night.

Al also missed a ton of key shots.

Wasted another great night from DWhite and Brown. Jaylen Brown is 100% right. They are great when they play with pace, when you dribble up the court slowly and let them settle into their defense…that’s when we are at our worst. And that is what we did and Mazzula did nothing about it.

Eh. I think it’s a stretch to try to pin this on Brown late. Jaylen missed a bunny or two but so did everyone else. I think Al and JT both missed layups while Horford, Hauser and even DWhite at the very end couldn’t quite hit the open looks. Overall good night for Brown and White.

You are correct about Tatum though that was horrible, can’t get over that last second shot. It was a tie, we weren’t down 3.
