Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

Milwaukee ehhhh... Gianni a year older, Middleton, dame... banged up aging team.. indy definitely.. they are a run n gun team that is deep and fun to watch. The Knicks grind you, make you work for everything.. league has no answer for Brunson.. they are a force to be reckoned with a healthy Randle.. your right embid is a monster whenever healthy though..
Joel is older than Greek. Same player. Dynamic and oft-injured.

Now if everyone is healthy.....then it's Sixers but that won't happen. Paul George will be 35 once the playoffs come rolling around.

NY needs some beef to rebound and protect the rim. Losing Hartenstein is a big problem. Without that presence they are pretenders.

Who did hartenstein sign with? Oh ok I thought Greek is about 30 no? PG has always been a great player, but never really won anything and doesn't make others around him better..

Truly one the best owners in the league whoever buys the team better understand quick what celtics culture is all about. To bad wyc is selling.
Good time to sell.

Championship helps season ticket sales. Advertising, sponsorships and licencing revenue will also go up.

They also have salary cost certainty for the next few years. No more additional supermax deals to worry about.

Coach and GM are (assumingly) locked in.

I knew he would get somewhere in the ball park of jrue.. great singing.. love D White.
Would take either over Paul George. White’s contract is a bargain. Not a steal but a clear positive value.

A local guy, a passionate life life long fan... 2 championships and numerous deep playoff runs under him. I thought for sure he would hold on a bit longer.. but maybe it's time.. what did he pay for the team ?

Agreed here. PG a great player in hjs own right.. but not durable like DW...

He’s one of those guys where he’s paid like an alpha, treated like an alpha, thinks he’s an alpha, rarely plays like one, always has that look on his face like he’s just another guy and what do you expect, never gets the same media criticism for failures as other players of his supposed stature. Also, like Embiid, always injured when they need him.

I’m not a fan of PG; he seems okay as a person and I like his defense, but I don’t like the price tag and overhype. Philadelphia is going to make him the third star so maybe it will work out for them. I doubt it. Knicks are building their team stronger and deeper. The Big 3 model rarely works in the modern NBA. Remember how unstoppable the Suns were gonna be with Durant - Booker - Beal?

Bought for 360 million.. valued at almost 5 billion (plus 2 championships) Pretty good ROI

ThE pRoCeSs ended up being:

-One player acquired by the actual tanking (Embiid)

-One player who was taken 21st where tanking was irrelevant (Maxey)

-One player signed as free agent mercenary (George)

Probably better just to try to win games.
The Process phraseology was created by front office guys who were wrong and wanted to create hype and extend their high salaries while they hoped it worked out.

Imo

1. Celtics
2. Knicks
3. Bucks
4. 76ers

76ers fixed their problem of having an oft injured star who tends to turtleshell in the biggest games, and who always seems to disappoint in the end…by adding a second guy who is exactly like that.

Also, George is 34, 4 yr deal. I don’t love that signing but I understand why they’d do it.

Thats if Embiid actually can play. Hes not known for his durability

Indy, NY, Philly, MIL are all in that bucket.

The Knicks and 76ers are both too fragile. We only have to manage Porzi, they both have multiple small guys to manage plus Embiid and George at 34/35. Actually a good situation for the Celtics.

On the other hand, there was an estimate on Boston Sports Journal that the salary + tax penalty for the 25-26 team would be over $440M, which is more than double what the second highest team will be paying. I'd love to see the prospective financials for the team in the out years, starting then.

Damn Celtics not ****ing around. Everyone is on the team for a long time.
