At 6'5 358 pounds,I like how everybody is calling him kid.

I LOVED the PICK (low risk HIGH Reward) TCU had sooooo much TALENT that year. We stole a player maybe as SIGNIFICANT as Aaron Hernandez. but for our O-line. I love the question mark picks that teams pass on b/c of a per-existing condition rather it be DRUGS (AH/Mallett) or attitude. Many other teams CANNOT gamble on those people b/c their foundation is based on NEED rather than VALUE and they are UNWILLING to take that CHANCE that BB so often does. Is BB Perfect? NO is he better than AT LEAST 90% of the LEAGUE @ drafting talent? ABSOLUTELY

I wish this man Could coach FOREVER but, when he Retires as a coach I HOPE he can remain in the Organization as a CONSULTANT (both in the DRAFT and as TALENT evaluator) I could NEVER see him in a scenario away from football completely. His FUTURE??? Perhaps as an EVALUATOR and as an adviser??? I think that is his FINAL step with this Organization. He would NEVER walk away from football Completely. I do NOT see that happening.

I'm DRUNK if this makes 0 sense I do apologize

I'm NOT dum jus inebriated and I feel fantastic

Drunk? Really? Hmmm..doesn't show.

I hope they just IR him. Give him a redshirt so he is 100% by next year.

I love this plan but I fear the consulting part might be with another team as it is hard to ask a new coach to step in with BB still up there "running things".

But a struggling team with a coach in his second or third year might be able to pull it off as just adding support.

either way I think we got 5-10 years of BB as a head coach left so lets make it count.

He could take a Parcells like role... Not the "FLASHY" title BP had in Miami, but BB would be a man in a similar scenario w/ some significant pull b/c he is immensely respected by the OWNER,Players and Fans. BB is a LEGEND. A successor for a coach would be a FOOL to not listen to an ALL TIME Great's advice. What kind of coach would NOT listen to evaluations from this man??? I am NOT suggesting this would be a puppet show or a marionette show (b/c the new coach WOULD have say b/c he to he has a Direction, in which he wants to go) check the EGO at the door new guy LISTEN and LEARN.The best part about learning is BOUNCING ideas off of one another. An Omnipotent coach like BB could help the new guy immensely.

In my drunken state yesterday I did make sure to polish the grammar the best that I could

They should IR him next year too... just to make sure.

He is a cancer survivor. He will probably practice for 3 weeks give or take, to get his feet wet and learn the system but I think he will be on IR. He is still recovering. The coaching staff has to slowly build his strength back to 100%.
If he gets injured while not at 100% strength, it would be God awful and maybe destroy his career.

Or he could stay on the active roster, continue working, and help the team come playoff time. For a young guy like that, taking a whole year away from game-speed football is more likely to destroy a career than a "chance at injury." Don't underestimate an elite athlete's aptitude for physical recovery.

Two thoughts

(1) Redshirt? are you kidding, with Koppen already down for the season and our backup OG starting at OC. If Cannon can play he's a great solution for depth on the interior line. We got nuthin behind the starters... Ryan Wendell.

(2) 6-5 358!!! holy hell. In case the Nation doesn't fully appreciate how big that is, Big Vince is 6-2 325, Mankins is 6-4 310, Haynesworth is 6-6 335. That's a lot of beef. Closest thing I can think of is Ted Washington, who was listed 6-5 375 in 2003. In the 5th round, too... wow.

Don't forget the immortal refrigerator at 382 lb in his prime.

My guess is they believe there's a significant chance he is ready to play this year. If it was truly a low-likelihood situation, they could easily have waited until week 9 to start the three-week practice clock.

The Rook is right. If they simply wanted to let him get a taste and then IR him, they could have waited a couple of more weeks and then done it. He's also right about the depth. If a G got hurt right now, Wendell doesn't seem like a great option (though he must have shown SOMETHING because they have kept him around for a long time).

Don't forget that back in July it was reported that he lost little weight hand didn't suffer a lot of the side effects of the chemo. He's now had 3 full months since his chemo to build up his strength and get into good cardio. From what pictures I've seen, he carries his 358 pretty well.

No I think in a couple of weeks he's going to get activated and play on the GL and short yardage formations just to get his feet wet, and get prepared to be the first interior OLman on the depth chart. IF he turns out to be the road grader we hope, the Pats OL will be very good and very deep for AT LEAST the rest of Brady's career in NE

He's definately a big boy but when you look at him would you honestly think he weighs more than Vince? He looks quite fit for a guy that big.

And no way Wilfork is at 325...i think he is more like 340-350 these days. It's quite amazing how durable and how much gas(endurance) he has for his size.

If he can play you gotta keep him on the active roster. Playing time is crucial, especially for younger players. If we're in a big game, and someone gets hurt on the line. And we're out of subs, and he's standing healthy on the sideline?

That would be terrible.

Honestly, that's one of the things that worries me about Cannon. The best Pats o-line picks have been relatively lean, agile, explosive guys: Mankins, Vollmer, Light, Solder. The measurable line closest to Cannon was Ryan O'Callaghan (6'6.6" 344).

Obviously hoping for the best, though! And as others have said, not being allowed to practice with the team is a huge obstacle in a young player's development. You can't just put them on ice and defrost for next year's camp.

Did I read that Cannon is currently 358lbs?

That makes Wilfork look skinny

I am shocked that the pessimists on this board having complained about having a player that is litterally a cancer in the lockerroom.
