Can we finally stop pretending that Cam is good?

Stidham has defenses that don’t care about him still selling out for the run and he can only occasionally do a dump off.
Just with this sentence, you showed everybody that you know Nothing about football.

when stidham is in the game they play the pass everytime and bring pressure everytime on him. That was the case against the Rams and that was the case Monday

Cam Newton is no longer an NFL QB....Maybe cam newton would be better if he had legit NFL receivers and Tight ends. But what is his ceiling? 10TD passes in 16 games? that is barely backup NFL QB.

the season Cam newton had this year makes last years Brady performance where we said he was washed look mind blowing at 24 TD's. I just dont see Cam newton going from a guy who threw 5 TD's and can barely make a wide open pass anymore to a guy who is going to throw maybe 20-24 TD's and be even a bridge QB. He has had under 100 yards in 4 games this year

Andy Dalton in 8 games threw for 14TDs, Fitzpatrick threw 13TD's in 9 games,

And with TEs who weren't the Worst in the Entire History of the National Football League.

asssia from UCLA is incredibly poor at everything.... blocking, release from the line of scrimmage, route running, catching, tracking the ball, being tough at the catch point,

everything you can be bad at, he is bad at.

Yep...He looks like he's thinking of things besides being a professional football player...kinda like Kneal Harry...

Bust.

Honestly man you don’t know what you’re talking about. We and everyone else have little to NO DATA on Stidham to form any conclusions.....he has been in the games late when we are already WAY BEHIND....Of course HE IS GOING to be PASSING alot! You can’t honestly form any opinions on Stid right now based on limited playing time coming in late in the game, playing way from behind ....Ton of risky plays and potential to not look very good....and yeah they are going to blitz the crap out of you knowing you don’t have time to RUN the ball!!!

I had high hopes for this kid but he’s looking like a massive bust ....so is Keene....more big whiffs from BB....hope I’m wrong and they can turn it around...

It's more than that though. If he was a competent QB he would at least have 15-20tds passing.

The eye test tells me he can't throw anymore. Skipping passes into the ground. Idk if his shoulder is just shot. The league nowadays is setup for QBs to put up numbers and cam could barely muster 5 tds all season and 34 passing yards last week.

Watch videos from 2 years ago before his shoulder injury and compare that to now. It's a totally different player.

I think everyone's hope (including mine as a fan) was he would show he was still that player that was having a record passing year (for him) before his shoulder injury. But he just can't anymore.
Yes shoulder is done and mentally he’s done too I’m afraid....wish him the best

Cam is just used as a battering ram at the goal line and it seems like DC's have figured that out at this point in the season.
He’s decent at goal line but speed is very diminished now overall....not much of a threat running or of course throwing

This is 100% the problem. You have two QB’s that have sucked throwing the ball but because our WR’s and pass protection suck anyways the run game is our strength and one of them is head and shoulders better for it. The jury on passing is still out, the offense still looks like garbage when Stidham is there, he makes inaccurate passes too and is actually making worse reads leading to a higher interception rate, but even if he was definitively marginally better passing (he’s not) then with our offense it’s still a net loss to take the better running QB off the field. You aren’t going to gain enough in the pass game to justify it. And the fact is Stidham hasn’t even made that case for himself that he’s even better at all.

The disconnect on this board is that people think that saying Cam should start means he’s good. No it means he’s just the best of bad options. Defenses aren’t afraid of the pass whether Cam or Stidham is out there. But we can run and it’s probably not a great idea to take a guy who has 4 rushing TD’s more than our entire RB Corp out of the game to put a guy who isn’t even a better passer out there to throw to receivers who suck anyways.
You are basing your opinions on Stidham on limited data and stats late in the few games he’s been put into where we are WAY behind and he’s in not just difficult position but constant PASSING situations because there is limited time on the clock to allow runs. You have solely been the biggest critic of this guy and you’re basing it on a handful of limited appearances. Not really fair. BB should have given him FULL/COMPLETE games to either show he has potential or doesn’t have it....But this isn’t a case of BB not thinking the kid is “ready” it’s more about BB being bound and determined to prove rest of league that he was RIGHT ...that Newton was the diamond in the rough...and he was the genius in grabbing him.....and the other 31 teams....whiffed! This is one of the TOUGHEST schedules in Patriots history....ANY QB ...rookie or Vet was going to struggle....still shocked that Newton has struggled as much as he has. Truly wish that BB had given Stid several games to prove that he either could play or compete in the league or that he could not. Bits and scraps late in the game playing from behind and needing to throw the ball every down (drawing predictable blitzes) SHOWS US NOTHING!

1. If Cam is as bad as every says (me included) no competent QB should struggle to show himself as a superior option in 5 appearance. There’s no excuse. Everyone saying he needs a full game should take a step back and realize that’s not how the league works and it’s never been how the league worked. You don’t make a guy the starter who the coaches feel haven’t earned in practice and in whatever limited appearances they have had. That’s just shifting the goal posts of what can be counted so you can maintain the illusion of vagueness around Stidham. The last coach that just tried a QB just to see and evaluate ended up getting fired after the decision was **** on fir even allowing the new QB out there. Stidham’s got more field time this year than nearly any non starter since Bill’s in here (basically only the Brady injury and suspensions years got more snaps to back ups and those QB’s all went into games as the intended starter).

2. Stidham is going into games with virtually no stakes. It’s either a blow out that nobody expects him to win and he’s going up against a soft prevent defense or it’s playing clean up against the Chargers. Those aren’t difficult situations to come out in. Nobody is going to blame you for what happens and the other team is just trying to get the help out of there. And in several of those situations, Bill gave up on Stidham and they just started handing the ball off to get out of there. The one close game we put Stidham in where he could sink or swim was the Chiefs game. That was the most attempts he had on the year and it was also statistically his worst game overall this year. And this entire board had a one month kick screaming that we would have won and wouldn’t be in rough shape in the playoff race if Cam started.

3. The fact that you think it’s anything other than “Belichick thinks Cam is the better option to win” and are already going into ulterior motives even with the team being out last week kinda shows that you don’t want to accept what is the simplest and most likely solution. Belichick paid Cam 1 million late in the summer. Belichick had Stidham developing for a full year under him. How does it make Bill look good to make it clear that he trusts the washed QB that nobody wanted over the guy he was priming up to be the next starter? Put even the smallest bit of logic into it and it means Bill when he lost Brady and was putting off contract talks had absolutely no viable plan for a post Brady transition. Cam of succeeded would make Bill look lucky that Cam was just hanging around in a stacked QB free agency and he just happened to be there for Bill to take a shot on. Stidham succeeding would have meant Bill found a diamond in the rough QB and molded him into his system and was able yo send Brady packing because he already secured the futures. If it’s about bill’s ego, then the right guy to force into a situation was Stidham. The fact that almost immediately Cam won the job and the entire coaching staff seems to be in lockstep on this is kinda telling.

Remember when folks wanted to give Cam a 5-year $200,000,000 deal after a few plays ....
Talk about not aging well. They wanted to lock him up for a few years. So did I but I didn't want to see him get out. :)

I know for sure a crap sandwich won’t taste very good. I don’t need to actually try it to know that.

The same reason why I don’t need to see Stidham start a game. All the evidence we have says he is not a very good NFL QB. All the voices to the contrary are basing that on nothing but wishful thinking and the idea that the guy on the bench just has to be better than Cam with no evidence at all that is actually true. This isn’t Bill trying to prove he’s right, this is Bill saying that our starting QB gives us the best chance to win.

Stid lost his job to not just Cam but Hoyer going into this season. He has a 54 passer rating playing against defenses that have taken their foot off the gas. What would his rating be if they were actually trying? 30? 20?

I don’t need to see a guy with no future in this league as a starter play a down of football. I’d rather get someone who really is good or at least could potentially develop that way.

Yep, just like the Breer article stated: AssyAssy was over-drafted and Keene was WAY over-drafted...

Whenever I see either of those two useless stiffs I'll Always think of Adam Trautman & Harrison Bryant...They won't be HOFers either, but they'll Absolutely still be in the league when our two useless stiffs are long gone from it...

bb trying to out smart the other 31 GM’s ends up shooting us fans in the nuts!

Not many things Bill could do now that would be fireable... but I think Bill extending Cam to a huge deal earlier in the season would make his seat get uncomfortable. Thankfully that didn’t happen.

praise the lord!!!!

3 days to go til they pack up Newton’s locker and escort him from the building.
