I don’t blame the kid, he wasn’t the one who drafted him 3-4 rounds too early or put that 2024 dumpster fire together.

Now the competition is much harder. Maybe he goes to another team for a fresh start. It’s not like he didn’t have some talent.

Wallace flaming out like this did surprise me. I thought he’d at least be a decent quality depth guy based on what I saw from college. He couldn’t even maintain that.

I get it it wasn't good but its a 3rd rd pick. Another draft L was holding out hope he could scrap a depth role rupcich and butler are as bad if not worse

Wallace played in 7 games in 2 years. College OTs passed over to take him in the same round were Dominick Puni, Connor Bebee and Matt Concalves.

They knew there were better options for backup guard last year, but opted to give Wallace one more year to develop.

Even with how bad that draft is, the Pats still are among the best rosters in the AFC.

This is where I get confused. The narrative that always gets spun is that it was always Wolf in charge and nothing changed with his role.

But the results since last year from the draft and FA do not feel like that’s the case. You don’t see GM’s flip that quickly

Too late I said the guy was absolute after being basically Inactive last year. The Drake Maye only Draft is unforgettable.

Wallace had a ton of scouts down on him. Us Penn State fans knew that the PSU coaches had doubts, and even his OL coach (who himself was fired prior to Wallace's senior yr) openly stated that Wallace's best position was inside.

Anyone here who feels confident in the drafting of OL by this team after we've seen the following guys picked? Caeden Wallace, Sidy Sow, Layden Robinson, Atonio Mafi?

Quite frankly, Im a little concerned about Jared Wilson too (though I wholeheartedly supported the pick).

Count me as someone completely underwhelmed by Wolf. I'd rather have Bobby Grier-- he hit on more players.

He was a day a late round guy at best. I posted links showing that even among Penn State media there were detractors. I watched the guy in 40+ games in college and I was totally shocked that we had picked him. He couldn't run block in college at all.

The 2024 draft will always be a successful draft just because they drafted Drake Maye. Doesn't excuse the really bad picks that came in the rounds after, but Maye looks to be a potential top 5 QB, maybe top 3. When you get that in a draft, the draft is a success no matter how bad the draft is.

2024 was always going to be a weird draft. Most of the scouting was done under Belichick, Wolf hasn't installed his system and staff yet, and they selecting for Jerod Mayo who had no clue what he was looking for in terms of talent.

The first draft after a regime change frequently is a mix bag to a disaster no matter the team just because the new staff is left with the scouting and much of the staff of the previous regime. So even when the scouting is good, it really doesn't jibe with what the new staff is doing. For example, Belichick looked for different traits in players than Wolf or even Vrabel does. Their grading systems were completely different.

It was a little different with Wolf because he was here, but he was running the scouting the way Belichick wanted it and not with his system. Wolf wasn't able to have the tools he wanted or the grading system he wanted. I think we saw positive results of the new scouting system and staff last year and hopefully we will see it again this year with the 2026 free agency and draft.

The 2024 draft was a disaster past Maye. But it is time to move on. This team has a lot of good and young talent that they were able to amass in a very short period of time. We can cautiously assume that 2024 was an outlier and we will see better results moving forward. Too soon to tell with this rookie class, but last year's class was excellent.

The guy disapponted from day 1. Whatever position they put him at he has just been bad.
Obviously a terrible pick but in the context of misses on every singke pick that year except for Maye it seems like their scouting process was deeply flawed.
I hope they try to do a deep dive and figure out how they could have gotten it so consistently wrong.

On the plus side they seem to be nailing the undrafted free agents.
