This date in Jets history: One-year anniversary of The Butt Fumble. Frozen in time. #nyj

How shall we all celebrate this beautiful day in history?

R.I.P last shred of Mark Sanchez's dignity. :violin:

I sent it a card.

Watching it never gets old

LMAO, where did he think he was going to run? All of the lanes were completely closed off.

And it never will go away. It officially has been acknowledged as part of American vernacular by the Urban Dictionary:

Urban Dictionary: buttfumble

1. Buttfumble
(Noun-Verb) - To run directly into your offensive lineman's rear end so violently that it in turn causes the quarterback to misplace the pigskin out of his hands and onto the ground ultimately causing a fumble.
Mark Sanchez is the pioneer of the Buttfumble.

2. Butt Fumble
To completely ****-up in your profession. A butt fumble (n) or to butt fumble (v).
Example 1: Did you see Mark Sanchez, the Jets quarterback, run into the ass of his own lineman and lose the football? That butt fumble has been voted the worst of the worst sports mistakes for two months straight now.

Example 2:
Surgeon A: “I can’t believe I amputated the wrong leg of that patient."
Surgeon B: “Man, you totally butt fumbled that operation. You're probably going to get your license suspended."

failure of epic proportions ****-up incredible screw-up fumble massive mess-up amazing ineptitude.

Last but not least, you can buy butt fumble mugs & shirts on many sites online.

Maybe he was chewing bubble gum and couldn't run, chew and think at the same time?

you know, there's a point in time when we transition from kids to semi-adults where watching something funny loses it's humor after subsequent viewings. not to say it doesn't stop being funny, but you can't hold that same belly chuckle as you did the first (few) times you saw it.

for young kids its the same level of funny after the 100th time seeing it.

Not sure what age we lose that.

but, the Butt Fumble transcends that adult-humor is still just as funny now as it was the first time (though it had better context the first time)...it's an all time classic.

In honor of this special day, I read the entire Butt fumble Wikipedia page, which I recommend to Pats homers everywhere.

Butt fumble - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The "Legacy" section is especially joyful, with classics like this:

Sanchez addressed the coverage in an August 2013 interview: "People ask me about the butt fumble and say, 'Gosh, doesn't that really bum you out?' Are you kidding me? You think every Friday if it comes on 'SportsCenter' I'm just down in the dumps? Who cares? I'm working out. I'm hanging with my family. I'm doing some charity thing. It's the last thing on my mind."

(Yes, he really did say "bum me out" and "down in the dumps", you really can't make this stuff up) arty:

This reminds me. I told my 6 year old about the Butt Fumble, showed him the videos a long time ago. The other day we had a conversation that went something like this:

Harrison: Mom, is Thanksgiving on a Thursday?

Me: Yes, yes it is, every year.

Harrison: So that means that Jet ran into a guy's butt on a Thursday?

Hmm, name's Harrison, born in 2007... Hmm...

I thought as the teams sideline assistant it was very nice of Sanchez to make Jermaine Cunningham comfortable.

I really wish Sanchez was still their QB, at least we got Tannenhill in Miami

Should be a national holiday. Every year have a game played in the meadowlands.
