Butler released

No more DB's under Bodden's wing. All those two did all last preseason was tweet their trip and dinner plans... Then a rookie and a JAG took over their slots... Bill never makes assumptions based on where or whether a player was drafted. Neither should players.

Teach both Bill's (Belichick or Polian) not to draft from UConn... Polian's RB is huge disappointment too but under the circumstances he ain't cuttin' any #'s from that unit, he's adding to it...including the FB Gronkowski who can't block all that well...

As for new targets, Spikes is still here and Ocho better have his noggin on a swivel...

Re: Schefter: Butler released

Why do you think the fans "deserve" an explanation?

No doubt I'd like to hear what changed between 2008 and 2009 in terms of scouting and draft strategy, but I don't think I'm entitled to that knowledge.

Well, to no great surprise, you and I don't agree. Have a nice day.

Re: Schefter: Butler released

Pioli and BB both seem to have had excellent drafts last year, and both have drafts with potential from this year.

For some reasons, 2006-2009 don't measure up to the bookend seasons. Some of it's explainable (2007), but the fans still deserve an explanation that they won't get short of a book being written.

2009 looks pretty decent to me.

2010-11 look very good.

2006-08 were abysmal.

Just makes you realize how much of a crap shoot it is... I mean look at what Polian's been up to recently.

Re: Darius Butler Released?

LOL. What do the Bulter crusaders say now?

I say that I wish that he'd have put it together and reached his potential. While I knew it wasn't going to be easy, I personally saw some improvement this camp.

have to give it to him for being classy on the way out

Re: Schefter: Butler released

We're getting rather thin at players to Hate. But i think that won't last long, i figure the Miami game.

Spikes is probably next. Or maybe Cunningham.

Spikes? Don't think so...he'll be lowering his helmet and blaze through the open gaps.
People will be hating Guyton, book it. His responsibilities are mainly in coverage on tight ends or backs, so all what is needed are some catches by those and we will hear an uproar.

These moves just make Cunningham and a guy like Brace know they are not safe and have to produce this year.More so Cunningham.

BB set your pride aside and bring in a GM who can draft well.

Re: Schefter: Butler released

Too bad. He was supposed to be a steal in round two (most mocks had the Pats taking him in the first round), but he never progressed and actually regressed. At least the Pats don't keep the dead weight around just because they are high draft picks.

Could it be that BB is FINALLY reading the posts on this board??

Brace is certainly uinder more pressure. He is in his 3rd year. Cunnigham is in his 2nd year.

Re: Schefter: Butler released

Call me crazy, but I think his drafts actually improved post-Pioli.

That said, Pioli's drafts have been pretty solid in KC, the Tyson Jackson pick notwithstanding.

Johnathan Baldwin was reach by Pioli this year and all signs so far point
to this kid being nothing but trouble.

He even got hurt after taking a beating from Thomas Jones.

Id like to see a book come out some day, its odd that those years were so bad.
I listened to Felger for a few minutes today and that was his show today, talking about the bad draft years, I flipped on the station last week for a couple minutes and they were talking about the same thing, I wonder if they've been talking about it for a week straight, its not unlike Felger to find something negative and beat a dead horse.

Wow. Tate now butler gone.. Mathews says hi

I just can't imagine any other set of fans in the world with as much doom & gloom in their systems as New Englanders. I'll bet the sales of anti-depressants and cheap liquor are through the roof up here.

I hate 2nd guessing on draft picks. People need to realize that just because someone does well in another system does not mean he would be the same here playing.

Re: Schefter: Butler released

Most people on the board won't have anything to complain about now with Meriweather and now Butler gone.

Ha! There is alway Ron "Flounder" Brace. ... that 2009 draft was not looking so hot after all...
