Buffalo Bills coaching search

Fitz is a really bad NFL QB.

His biggest problem, other than his arm and all the turnovers, is that he sees the field very poorly. They replay things constantly up here and the guy misses WRs who are wide open like few other NFL QBs would. He's bad.

They went cheap once again. That team is doomed until its ownership situation changes.

Fine by me! Maybe they'll trade for Sanchez or Tebow in the off season!

Get rid of Ryan Fitzpatrick and trade a 2nd round pick for someone like Kirk Cousins. That would be a smart starting point for the Bills.

This could happen

*One name who could spice up the veteran quarterback market is Matt Flynn. We’ve heard Flynn could be on the move for the second time in as many seasons, this time via the trade market. Given that Russell Wilson has established himself as the clear No. 1 in Seattle, the Seahawks likely will listen to offers. And given there are more teams in need of quarterbacks than there are attractive, available veterans, it is likely John Schneider’s phone will be ringing. In fact, if a team is willing to take on Flynn’s big contract, it wouldn’t be surprising if they could get the former Packer for reasonable trade compensation.

Yet another "flip a coin and hope he works out" hire by the Bills. That franchise has been doing this for a long time now and coming up on the wrong side of the coin ..... no point changing anytime soon, I say.

Back to the Future?

A little over 20 years ago the New England Patriots hired a Syracuse head coach with the initials DM who had a good, not great, record (66-46-4) at the school. Now the Buffalo Bills have taken the same path, only the coach was not quite as successful (25-25). I wonder if he will emulate his predecessor's career.

Re: Back to the Future?

These pitiful franchises fire their coach every 2-3 years with no replacement in mind. Perfect example in Buffalo. Lets send a message to the fans that we want to win by firing the coach, and then we'll figure out who's coming in here. Incredibly stupid, not just by the Bills but by many teams. Most coaches at fired because of bad personnel decisions and/or poor QB play, or when these huge money free agents flop year after year.

I don't know why teams don't have a replacement ready to go before firing the coach, even if it's in-season. Instead they all fire their coach the same day and frantically shuffle around for scrap parts, usually finding someone is a week or two, while that decisions then sets them back another 3-4 years.

Did he coach at UMass too?

does this ever happen? I can't imagine the media not creating a giant cluster**** if a team was conducting interviews before firing the last guy, and I'd think most HC candidates would want to not only wait for their own "FA" period but also for their seasons to end. No way a team or college lets their AC or HC interview for an NFL HC position in season without leaking it to the press.

I would bet my bank account that Doug Marrone leave Buffalo with a career losing record, and a nice chunk of it that each season he coaches is below .500

I'll take that bet.

If you are too scared to do the whole bank account on your first claim, i'll gladly take your second claim as well. Just PM me so we can work out what we both reasonably consider to be an acceptable "nice chunk".

Come on BMU,as a Bills season ticket holder you of all ppl should know this hire is not "yet another".

Will Marrone fail? Possibly leaning toward likely. However, this hire is the farthest thing from the pattern of mediocrity (and subsequent failure) the Bills have followed since firing Gregggggggg and you know it.

The Bills were the first team to figure out Chip Kelly was going back to Oregon and acted accordingly. We'll see how it shakes out for them, but this hire is the exact opposite of "That franchise has been doing this for a long time now".

Stop pandering.
