First off, He was lined up properly on that play. Gronk went in motion to his side of the field and lined up next to Light. However, Gronk lined up more than 1 yard behind the LOS, so he was not, technically, on the LOS. Which means that Chad wasn't "covering up the TE" as the Ref announced.

It was a bad call by the line judge (or whomever is responsible for making that call).

Had Chad moved back off the line, I'm sure that the Officials would have call for an improper formation with only 6 players on the line..

I still kind of consider Bruschi as part of the team. He isn't technically still part of the team but he's obviously still a huge supporter of the team and you know he's always rooting for them. He knows what it's like to be a Patriot and he wants Chad (a player who has the potential to be a huge part of this offense) to succeed and work in the system.

I agree. Buschi is still part of the Patriot Family, and may always be. At the very least, he certainly will be until the current regime (IE Brady/Belichick) is gone. Whether or not this was a message delivered with BB's blessing or not is really irrelevant, IMO. This is really more insight to what Bruschi had to have been like in the locker room. I am sure Monday night he sat there stewing, watching 85's lack of production. Now, the difference is, we get to hear what things may have been like behind closed doors. Bruschi could have said this as a player, and we never would have heard it. It would have been hush-hushed in the guise of The Patriot Way. Now, it's out in the media for Chad to hear it, as opposed to hearing it across the locker room.

They're not in the locker-room. During the portions of practice when the media are excluded, they get ushered out along with all the other guys.

Tedy and Rodney are doing their jobs, just like they did when they played for the Pats. Only now, they deliver their hits while sitting in front of a microphone instead of on the field.

You just love making up excuses don't you... If you are naive enough to believe that Bruschi doesn't talk to guys like Mayo, Guyton, Faulk, Brady and Light on a regular basis, then there is no point is having a conversation with you because you'll never get it. Same with Harrison.

And what makes Bruschi and Harrison different is that they keep their confidences. They don't blabber what they get all around like Breer, Borges, et al..Why? Because they have that respect for their peers.

Tedy was WAY over the top.

Polian has stated many times that 3 years is required to learn a passing offense. It's been a few weeks. Why a gradual "work-in" is bad is beyond me. Did the offense suffer without him? He's an addition not a replacement.

If players and former players were so all knowing, Mike Singletary would have hoisted his third or fourth Matt Millen trophy this past February.

Much more informative that what Tedy had to say. I would have been much more inclined to have listened to him if he said it like that. It wasn't a criticism as much as it was an explanation of what goes into learning the system. Then again that doesn't get as much attention.

Chad may or may not be putting the right amount of time to be learning this offense. But at this point, the only ones that know that are the players on the team and they aren't speaking. For us fans all we can do is wait and see. I am certainly not about to pass judgment based on one or even a hundred tweets.

Those comments were made almost a month ago coming off an impressive pre season win...in which Tom made it a point to manage to get him the ball. This isn't the pre season anymore. You line up in the wrong place or don't get off your jam or pick up a block or adjust your route the way the post snap read called for and your costing your teamates the ability to win. If you sound like you aren't grasping that and guy who did will get annoyed. Chad has never been held accountable. In part because he was the most talented guy on the field the majority of the time he has suited up as a pro. He will be held accountable here one way or another... He's not the most talented guy on the field, and he's playing for a coach and QB who may admire talent but demand focus and execution irrespective of it. Do your job. That's what that means. That's the only value your talent represents here.

And Chris was wrong about one premis he believed underscored Chad's level of desire to succceed here. He didn't take a paycut. He actually got an extension... Haynesworth took the paycut.

Be a man, a real man and admit when you have done something wrong. The host read the tweet, and 54 hearing for the first time knee-jerked a response. It was from his heart no doubt about that, but it was reactive.

I am not saying the message was right or wrong, but the method he used I believe was wrong.

Get on air and tell 85 via the media that what you said was wrong, after you call him privately and make amends, it was inappropriate.

Bru needs to explain publically that he still has a passion for the game and a recognition of talent, which he believes 85 clearly has an abundance of. Bru, say that in the end, you want to see 85 maximize his potential in a great organization that has always been committed to excellence.

Come on guys, let's face it, this was the wrong way to go about it. You would never hear Bru talk about other players not maximizing their potential on other teams. It's because it was NE that he took exception.

Bascically, what Bruschi was saying Chad spent a lot of time saying how much he would love to play with the Pats and selling Belichick that he should get him, but he is not taking an advantage of it. Wide receivers is one of the easiest positions to make a big impact in the NFL. Rookies do it, year in and year out. He has to realize he is playing with what is becoming arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, the responsibility as a supposed elite receiver is completely different. I think Bruschi said the right thing. We will see if Ochocinco is mature enough to handle it.

It is weird after a good game the things people want to focus on with the negative. Chad Ochocinco tweeted what probably most of the guys were saying in the lockerroom and it turns into a Bruschi article and a 230 post thread and counting.

I will worry about Ochocinco if he is a nonfactor in October or November and the Pats are struggling to put points on the board. When Brady threw for 4 TDs and 517 yards, it is hard for me to nitpick about Ochocinco only being in for 18 plays with one catch and tweeting that the offense looked like a videogame.

Are you kidding me ?

You mean to tell me that its easy to just:

a. jump into one of the premier offenses thats complex and tough to grasp.
b. understand all of the hard snaps, dummy snaps, play changes, audibles and everything else that Brady calls at the line in a few weeks.
c. have no off season OTAs, no mini-camps because of the lockout.

You make it sound like players just "jump" into a professional offense like you "jump" into a 3rd grader's game of hopscotch.

You are probably suprised because your thinking makes zero sense.

It's easy to come down on Tedy because he is way out of line.

If you want to think clearly and with intelligence, you should first reconcile the concept and irony about why a guy with an open mike and giving you a peek; is also the same guy that supposedly "always kept it in house".

Also, which one of the Tedy/Rodney homers will now say that former player Tom Jackson was perfectly correct in saying per 2003 that the Patriots hate their coach after week 1?

At no point in his criticism of Ochocinco did Bruschi ever give any indication that what he was saying was corresponded to any attitudes in the locker room, as he'd done in the past.

I'm sure he does talk to all the guys you mention -- and if they passed anything like this along to Bruschi, BB would have their asses. The coach doesn't send messages through the media, and he doesn't tolerate his players doing it either.
