More from the article:
If you're hunting for disrespect, you'll have to look elsewhere.
Yeah, it's pretty much "if everything you try succeeds, well, then you'll be succeeding." BUT, I still give a lot more credence to any analyst who says to drop 7 against Brady rather than calling for constant blitzes. You used to hear the latter a lot more.
Spot on. I always find it fascinating to hear the mediots say "get pressure on Brady with 4 guys and drop 7 into coverage, hit him, make him uncomfortable and he's just a mediocre QB."
Well, gee, what a shocking revelation. Get pressure on the QB without any blitz packages and drop 7 into coverage so you can double team Gronk/Edelman? If only the rest of the league knew this secret formula.
Is there any QB that would be better than "mediocre" in the above circumstances? Teams have been trying to figure out how to stop the Patriots for the past 16 years. Developing a gameplan for a desired result and executing to achieve the desired results are two different animals.
This akin to commentators compelled to say things like " Well ya know, I think the team that scores the most points, will win this game!"
I don't know what I would do without such keen insight.
