Broncos week is here

Yes, I'm hardly meaning to come off as argumentative.

Our current 2/5 wins on the road + injury situation just doesn't give me (personally) much hope that we would be able to pull it off this year, that's all.

I see a night and day difference between our odds as being the #2 seed, and our odds of being the #3 or even potentially #4.

yet some here would rather not get the bye...talk about idiotic logic

Their secondary sucks. Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie is wildly inconsistent. He is a stud at times and horrible others. And he is the only guy in their secondary I would even consider.

Watching last Sunday's night game, a half way decent passing offense would have torn apart their secondary. There were receivers wide open without a defender within two yards of them. Smith either missed the wide open guy or the receiver dropped the pass in most of these cases.

I think their defense will play better than we expect.I think pats and broncos are mirror opposites of each other from last yr. We have an upcoming offense which is gelling vs an established broncos offense just like last yr when it was the other way around. Our defense is not as good as theirs due to injuries and even though they are not great on defense, they have played long enough this season together to be decent and confident just like our defense was last yr. I just hope the scores are not reversed.

Have a feeling this game will break all sorts of reg season TV ratings

So basically you're saying that you don't see the Patriots getting through the wild card round or that home field advantage against the #2 seed is critical.

I just don't buy that logic.
Its the bye week more than anything.

Which is a harder path?

here's Kontra's response in that thread...pretty much nails it...

read a page of posts...if those fans are representative of the fanbase, they deserve pity...extremely stupid, extremely uneducated people.

When they started talking Spygate, I dipped out. Haven't posted on that forum since. If we win Sunday night, I'll be returning there and will probably get banned shortly thereafter. It seems their leash with Pats fans is a lot shorter than it used to be. That place used to be very pleasant to talk football at. Not so much anymore. Like I said in that thread, a couple of stompings will do that to a team.

I have a name there as well but haven't posted in a couple years. I like you noticed that it has since gone downhill

There are huge clues on tape for the Patriots of both when it will be run vs. pass, and also who’s the intended recipient based on formation, personnel placement within those formations, and backfield set cues relative to the other information.

The challenge for the Patriots is do they have enough experienced players on the field who can process this pre-snap information and still do their post-snap responsibility and make plays?

One thing i dont get is the tapes were destroyed argument. Yes initially they were but when later walsh came , they showed the tapes to the media and it had SD cheerleaders on them .Every conveniently sweeps this fact under the rug and never mentions it like it never happened.

I don't think any of us want to talk about this issue at the moment (or at any other point in time), but the argument of destroying the tapes somehow making the situation with us look worse is beyond ridiculous.

Any real fan or intelligent human being would realize immediately that Goodell quickly lost all control of the situation and never intended for it to become that much of a story. I think it was meant more along the lines of Bountygate, where no one seems to give a damn a year later. Goodell handled the situation terribly, and not only did it make the organization look worse than intended, it made the NFL in general look worse.

My thought is that the tapes were destroyed for any number of reasons, possibly more than one:

--the media had gotten a hold of them

--he wanted to punish and move on, and destroying showed a sense of closure (at least it was meant to in his mind)

--there simply wasn't anything 1/2 as bad as people thought on the tapes, as shown by the cheerleaders

--he didn't want anyone to replicate the act shown on the tapes, and figured that there was no sense in keeping the tapes to fall in any other hands

Either way anyone looks at it, there certainly was ZERO "special treatment" from Roger Goodell. That thought is beyond ridiculous, and I highly doubt a new case from a different team would be handled anywhere close to the same way with all of that attention. Within the first 72 hrs, there were more stories and unsubstantiated rumors that spiraled the entire situation completely out of control.

Patriots are 68-2 at home when winning the turnover battle since 2001.

Win the TO battle please
