Brees Out Approximately 6 Weeks With Thumb Injury

Tough break for the Saints, especially after how last season ended for them.

I'm just glad it's not season ending. There was speculation that he might miss the whole season.

Got two Tough ones coming up @ Sea Hawks and vs Cowboys. If they lose both it could have Playoffs implications down the road.

But I have to state the obvious here... this could mean Brady is now in the driver seat to break Manning’s TD record.
why does this matter..it's just a matter of who plays longer

You're not kidding on #2. No one inspires confidence in that division right now. And depending on how afloat New Orleans can stay until Brees comes back, this could be the 2nd time ever that 7-9 wins a division.
Yeah it’s interesting that making the playoffs as a wildcard may be more daunting for them than making it as the division winner. With Bears/Packers, Seahawks/Rams, and Eagles/Cowboys battling for division vs. wildcard..NFCS winner could have a handful more losses than a team who misses out on the playoffs.

Crazy that Brees is still 3k ahead in passing yards. Brady should pass Peyton within 3-4 games.
Not so crazy to me.
Brees played on lot more losing seasons where he was forced to keep throwing late in games trailing by double digits.

5 years ago my bike stem broke while I was going down a hill at 32 MPH (per my Garmin). The stem is what connects your front fork to the rest of your bike. I was fortunate enough to think quick and dive off the bike into a tuck and roll (people have been impaled). I came out of it with a severely bruised left shoulder and right thumb. The shoulder took my entire body weight. The thumb happened as I rolled attempting, successfully, to keep my head from impacting the pavement.

Now intuitively you would think the shoulder would be the longer to heal. I was actually back on the bike 3 weeks to the day with the shoulder at about 90% and 100% within two weeks after that. The one caveat being that I had to pull over to hydrate for over a year because I'd drop the water bottle with the bad thumb and didn't trust it enough to hold the handle bars while hydrating with the other hand.

I was doing the hand squeezer (cutting people off from the masterbation jokes in advance) to build up strength in the thumb that entire time. Even if he's "only" out 6-8 weeks this has the potential to linger for a lot longer until he has full strength back in the thumb. I couldn't have gripped a football for a long time. I'm sure he'll have every specialist and physical trainer looking at it getting better care than I did but still.

I disagree. Unless Brees is out for the year, I expect the saints to win their division.

  1. Best of luck to Brees on a complete recovery.
  2. This makes that NFCS a wide open division.

being out for 8 weeks on IR makes sense to me.

Sean Payton is regarded as an offensive genius. Well here's his chance to really prove it.

yes.

I believe the the saints have much more talent than just Brees.

Yes, but they are extremely top heavy. If Kamara or Thomas go down, they’re toast.
