Breer: Pats out on Robinson, considering an LT by committee approach? (Update: likely fake Reddit post)[3/19: signs w/Texans]

No games tomorrow. We will be ok.
Oh I know lol.. Vrabel's not going to leave the offense incomplete. Really high on moses.

Yeah it might not be fair to hold Onwenwu's struggles last year against him while Strange sat it out due to injury. But when Strange has played he was never as bad as Onwenwu last year.

Oh and Obviously bouncing Onwenwu back and forth between G and T didn't help either.

I like Onwenwu so I have no issue if you want to say he's still better than Strange.
Yeah he was terrible last year no question about it. Hopefully that was only a one off. I don't want Strange to turn into someone as reliable as Isaiah Wynn...

The simple change of Moses for Jacob’s
and Strange being healthy makes this OL so much better than the sh*t we saw last year. Throw in an actual NFL caliber LT and maybe an upgrade at C and it’s gonna make last years OL look like a pee wee team.

I'll say SBB my man.. Moses is so what this OL needs as a leader and guy who brings it each play. Really underrated singing.. don't laugh at me.. but I also think Mac Hollins is another good pick up.. didn't know the guys 6"4 either.

I agree with your post. So... I'm thinking

At LT, an improved lowe/draft pick
At LG strange needs to stay here
At C Brown/bradberry
At RG ownenu
At RT Moses
Without the slashes this season would be doomed

If its true that pats have concerns about robinson’s motivation and effort level without additional pay incentives then
Its a hard pass for me on signing cam robinson period

Yeah when a vet declining player sets his mind in a certain money and then comes the market reality and says you're not worth that, in this case if it's true he wants 15Mi and then ends up signing for 10Mi, you can be sure his motivation drops in the same proportion or even more.

I like players who knows where their market is and get those deals (or close to that) done, these perform better.

I'm out on Robinson if at this point they didn't sign they have to have some intel justifying that.

Gentleman we will have to draft by need, a LT in #4 or with a slight trade down to #6 or #7. Let the reality sink in. I hope Hunter is not available at #4 so we don't have to torture ourselves with those if this if that mind games years from now.

Love people calling Will Campbell a mediocre player. Gave up 5 sacks over 2500 snaps in the SEC. Calling that mediocre is interesting to say the least. Maybe #4 is a bit high for him, but he would be a massive upgrade at LT.
Dude, come on... he is so lacking in skill and ability... it took him until Freshman year to become the starter at LT... slack ass slacker...

Robinson is trash. The state of the left tackle position is dire everywhere, yet he doesn't have a deal - this is for a reason. Leave the bum on the streets.

If every single LT in this draft is a question mark, then we are making a mistake to strain ourselves to draft one with a premium pick. This team did not need a LT exclusively, it needed an entire offensive line. We are 60% there. Don't overvalue one position out of five, bring in the five best players you can.

My approach: Hunter or bust at #4, draft an elite LG prospect at #38, take another flyer on a tackle in the 3rd round, roll into camp with four solid, established starters, and let Lowe battle with Wallace and the pick for the LT spot. Are our problems solved? Probably not, but this gives us the best possible team in 2025 and beyond.

Carter and Hunter are no brainers. If one of them is there at 4, they are 100% without a doubt the pick. I would not pigeonhole Campbell as a guard quite yet. If there was ever a kid that could be an anomaly, Campbell seems to be that guy.
He has played well in college in a tough division and players in the NFL come from the college ranks and yet a lot think he wont play well at the NFL level that is confusing to me. I think you give him a shot you could hit solid gold or at least have your pro bowl guard for the next 10 years.

I understand the thinking here. Hunter or Carter at 4 you have to take them. Figure your needs out later. I do think in that case you need to grab a T quickly after. Hopefully Conerly falls to you or you trade up to get him. Charles Grant from William & Mary would be a good pickup in the 50-60 range. Athletic and productive at the small school level. I would think you’d want a vet like Tyron Smith (I know…I know) to help him along if needed.

How many starting left tackles have there been in the past 25 years who had arm length under 33”?

Per PFF no regular starting OT this century has a wingspan as short as Campbell's.

You don’t pass up Hunter for Campbell unless you want to be fired

Committee approach??!! Well, what could go wrong? Worked so well the past two seasons!!

I have not been thru the combine results for every starting left tackle drafted in the last 25 years looking for arm length measurements... and if you say you have, I will drive to your house and call you a liar to your face.

Is the arm length ideal? not if you listen to the talking heads... Do I care? No I do not... Just like you don't care Tet ran a 4.55 in the 40... difference between us is I am not ducking it... I acknowledge this perceived deficiency, and it still does not bother me or persuade me that we need to go in a different direction... How well did your "Tet ran a 4.48" post age? Its a rhetorical question - we all know the answer - it aged like a five day old dead fish hidden under a car seat in the dead center of Death Valley, California in August...

So? Will Campbell... A day 1 starter at Left Tackle as a true freshman... In the SEC no less... The Premier college football division... And if you look at his tape, and I have not watched his entire college career unfold I will admit, how well did he do? He has backed his rep up with his play on the field... 2nd team all sec as a freshman, x2 all SEC as a sophmore & junior, Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner in 2024... The NFL is littered with "can't miss prospects" who can't make the transition... Just like its full of guys who had to fight for every minute of their playing time and turned out to be stars... Its a crap shoot no matter how you look at it... His track record as a hard working player who has succeeded despite the disadvantages of less than ideal measurements gives me confidence he will be able to make the transition at the pro level...

In other words: I'd rather have a LT with shorter than ideal arms than another N'Keal Harry - a slow ass WR with separation issues that gets by on being a better athlete than the guys he's playing against... That will not be the case in the NFL... maybe Tet will be a great receiver... Maybe he won't... it does not matter as its not our most pressing need... and yes, when your roster has gaping holes, you'd better be considering those needs over "BPA"... BPA is fine for teams who are dealing from a position of strength... we, however, are not.

We need to build the Line... Drake Maye can't throw the ball with his ass on the ground... Its one of the main reasons his QB rating was 4.2 points below the league average... there's a reason why he was harried, hit, pressured or sacked on nearly 20% of his drop backs last year... Its the reason why he had to visit the blue tent twice last year... You can scheme less than ideal wr's to get open... You can scheme plays for a quick release... You can't scheme around poor blocking... Eventually it catches up with you, and you either lose your QB to injury or you turn the ball over...

Unless you bring something new to the table, I think this discussion between us has run its course... I can't keep repeating myself, saying the same things over and over...The Pats will draft who they draft... I will support who ever we draft and will hope they are successful no matter if I disagree with the selection or not.

Thats just me... Ymmv... Go away now.

so what's your point beyond they should have taken Garrett Wilson, who did more on the Jete with Zach Wilson under center?

My point is King Tet is not like that Bust Harry. Unlike you and some others I don't see the similarities. Unless you'll are looking through those below.

How about I called him N'Keal Harry just to trigger Ray Ray?

But hey thanks for biting...
