  2. So this is pretty hilarious. As you've likely seen by now, the Patriots actually traded Bryan Stork to the Redskins. Here's what happened...

  1. The Patriots informed Stork of his impending release this morning. Word of that release quickly spread, obviously down to the Redskins...

  1. Redskins GM Scot McCloughan checked the transaction wire, noticed nothing had been official, so he called Nick Caserio about a trade.

Tampering bastids!

kind of. it seems like the patriots were willing to release him outright, but then the redskins got involved:

I didn't mean the part of releasing him. In the other thread I was wondering how nobody would be interested with the C needs around the league.

ah, got it.

So... with Stork gone, is 2014 Bill's worst draft to date as coach of the Pats?

Hard to top some of those years between 2006--2008, but yeah, 2014 wasn't too hot. I'm going to check out the specifics now that you've reminded us.

Better than nothing at all.
that's true, but you would think they might have been able to get a little bit more for him if they'd shopped him around first. by announcing they were going to cut him, they pretty much gave away any bargaining power in a trade.

Only Garropolo, James White and Cameron Fleming left from 2014 Draft...what a complete waste. Easily one of BB's worst drafts ever.

That was actually a pretty smart move by the Redskins.

Not if we go 3-1, 4-0 in the first four weeks of the season.

You mean if the Pats go 3-1, 4-0 in the first four weeks BECAUSE of Garoppolo instead of in spite of him, correct? We'll see. I would still call it one of his worst drafts to date, though. As I recall, you agreed when I posted the thread about it in the Draft forum.

Media guys are doing a fine job in that area lately.
They are brutal. First Vollmer to IR and now this.

What is this OK!?

very probable 7th and to another conference
absolutely better than nothing
if anyone BB knows what to do with 7ths (picks or trades)

Brings us back to the idea of cutting first round picks like (pro bowler) Meriweather and promising DT Easley.
One can assume that they'd have been able to recoup something, had they wanted to. They don't mind the outright cuts as a message. To take it one step further, most here overrate the potential returns in dramatic fashion.
