BREAKING: Stork traded after all

They are brutal. First Vollmer to IR and now this.

What is this OK!?
It pains me to be defending the media, but not sure what they did wrong here. They reported, accurately it appears, that Stork was going to be released, which Washington saw and acted on, and then reported that.

Also, don't really get why Howe is saying this is hilarious. Just a quick move by Washington. I suppose if anything it makes the Pats look kind of bad for not trying to trade him first.

that's true, but you would think they might have been able to get a little bit more for him if they'd shopped him around first. by announcing they were going to cut him, they pretty much gave away any bargaining power in a trade.
Brings us back to the idea of cutting first round picks like (pro bowler) Meriweather and promising DT Easley.
One can assume that they'd have been able to recoup something, had they wanted to.

But that's the thing. I don't believe they wanted to. Especially with the report out there that Brady had problems with Stork getting the line calls together. That they were able to get anything at all for him with these circumstances shows how quickly the wanted to move on.

One other benefit here is that now the Dolphins can't claim him, so they're still stuck with no true backup to their injured starting center.

Good point, and maybe a reason why Washington made the trade. I'm pretty sure Washington is high on the waiver claim order.

You mean if the Pats go 3-1, 4-0 in the first four weeks BECAUSE of Garoppolo instead of in spite of him, correct? We'll see. I would still call it one of his worst drafts to date, though. As I recall, you agreed when I posted the thread about it in the Draft forum.

You remember all your 'agrees'? I can't remember what I had for dinner. It wasn't a great draft but if we got 3-4 wins because Jimmy played well, it will have been worth something.

Yea I guess they did get the Stork story right.

For Vollmer they whiffed badly.

They still suck and they stink

Hard to top some of those years between 2006--2008, but yeah, 2014 wasn't too hot. I'm going to check out the specifics now that you've reminded us.

I would say '14 is the worst

So how was the 2014 draft overall?

Are the Pats the only team with less than stellar results?

Whats the news on Vollmer? Not being put on IR?

Only Garropolo, James White and Cameron Fleming left from 2014 Draft...what a complete waste. Easily one of BB's worst drafts ever.

The expectation from 6s and 7s should be zero. If you have a higher baseline than that, something is wrong.

no, through the 3rd week of the regular season, it's the same order as the draft. the redskins were #21.

your point about them wanting to leap ahead of miami is still valid, though (miami was #11? #13--i can't tell because of trades).

Well, IIRC, there was one UDFA who balances things up a bit ...

Time to change the thread again! WTF IS HAPPENING???!!

If Jimmy G kicks ass and White continues to be an above average passing down back it might be just below average.

07 was just as bad. Bing Bang Clock as the only NFLer and he was released.

Bill using his Jedi-media tricks.

hope Stork does well, because that would mean the Giants/Eagles/Cowboys do les well and it nevers hurts to have more draft picks (though #7's are typically like UDFA for BB or are UDFA better?).

brock vereen part II....

If you look ar rounds 4-7 onwards, there's not a lot there. The only significant contributors that I can see in those rounds were Devonta Freeman, Bashaud Breeland (loved him), Martavis Bryant, Justin Ellis, Russell Bodine and that's about it. We probably got about as much production out of our 4-7 rounders as most teams got from theirs.
