Patriots Player Departure BREAKING: Joe Milton traded to Dallas

The Cowboys are sending their compensatory fifth-round pick to the Patriots for Milton and a seventh-round pick, sources told Schefter.

I thought they would get more, but I seriously doubt they gave him away with better offers out there. I guess the market wasn't what we thought it was. Disappointed, but not upset.

I will take the extra pick. This team needs more bodies. That fifth will allow the Pats to either potentially draft a good role player or use it to trade up to get a starter. With so many needs on this team still, I will take whatever draft capital the Pats can get.
The rate of 5th rounders making an NFL team is abysmal

Why draft Milton in first place?

I will say, after getting back into draft fun this year I’ve probably done 150 mocks…there is LOT of meat in rds 2-6 this year. First rd is “meh” but 2-6 is actually pretty stacked. Even 7 could have some interesting players depending on positional runs.

Not saying Milton will end up being worth a 1st rounder, but the timing is stupid!
There was no rush for us. Make Dallas (and others) get a little more desperate. Either right before the draft - we could get a 4th or even 3rd for some crazy team... or right after, when some team didn't get who they wanted and we trade for a player we really need.
When the highest offer is a 5th minus a 7th, no one is getting desperate.
If you wait until after the draft no one wants him because they drafted a qb with the pick.

You are t getting a 4th or a 3rd for a guy whose value is a 5th. The “crazy” team would just draft a qb.

A compensatory pick though? Wtf? Thought his value was a 5th but like not right before the 6th. Plus we give up a 7th? Don’t have a problem jettisoning the player, but he had a whole year of NFL sideline and practice experience with a game on his belt. Whatever, we still got Maye.

I agree, disappointed, but not upset. Time will tell if a good move or not. I think people got too high on him after one meaningless game.

almost as good as the Ladd Mconkey trade
Do you see a pattern
Feckless Wolf
The most timid gm in the league

We know its' Drake Maye's Team but players get injured.
And Drake still hasn't proved he won't continue to self destruct.

Need to find another Quality Back up... Kyle McCord - Quinn Ewers - Will Howard - Kurtis Rourke or Riley Leonard.

Waste if a decent asset…. Soooo, Dallas believes Milton can backup Prescott with an injury history that compares to games served for Deshaun Watson while we needed to sign J. Dobbs to backup D. Maye when we had a serviceable backup with potential at a Dollar Store price. Then we trade him for a late 5th rounder?? Yup, makes sense to me…..

100%. We fans have our opinions of Wolf, which are all but irrelevant. But imagine what other personnell guys around the league think when they see an incoming call from Wolf- "Oh, this squid nepo baby with a trembly voice? I can play him like a fiddle."

Horrible trade. Wolf shows he's stupid, yet again.

Ofds of a 5th rounder becoming a quality nfl starter
4-5%

So if we had 100 5th round picks, 4 might become starters

We got one compensatory 5th rounder
Essentially worthless or best case an end of roster backup AND we gave up top of the 7th round pick
For the most valuable position in sports
