Baltimore is basically trying to make up for the Mike Macdonald decision. There was a lot of talk locally that letting him leave to become Seattle’s head coach was a mistake. The organization clearly valued Macdonald, and now that he’s having success, they’ve got to be kicking themselves. Minter was also in Baltimore, and the front office thought very highly of him as well.

This is the current NFL we are in. Because no HC can keep a job, get used to seeing some random guy be a coordinator for 1-2 years and then jumping to becoming a HC.

Mike Tomlin was a rare random hire in 2006, but it's becoming the norm now.

I think it's a god thing and normal. There were people here saying it was a bad year to fire the coach because they weren't many big name candidates. But inside the NFL people know that there are plenty of up and coming head coach candidates, we just aren't very familiar with them. I like seeing the old guard heading out the door, the NFL needs the new blood.
