Brandon Marshall throws tirade over Patriots' dominance: 'We all should be ashamed'

“The league is not competitive,” Marshall said. “We all should be ashamed. Even you guys covering them on TV should be ashamed. Players should be ashamed, coaches should be ashamed, owners should be ashamed. How do we let these guys do this year in and year out? Congratulations. You guys are phenomenal. You can’t get any better. But how do 31 other organizations let this happen? I know Ray (Lewis) is going to say, ‘I won a Super Bowl. I did my job.’ You should have won five.”

There is no competition in the AFC now that peyton has retired. It’s an easy path to the super bowl when you own your only real threat (pittsburgh).

This line in that article strengthens my opinion that we fans outside NE are a bit alone.

"......According to a recent poll, North Dakota is the only non-New England state rooting for the Patriots in Super Bowl LII. "

Not that I find it bothersome. Only minor irritant is the inability to find much of Pats gears on sale. Thank god - actually the tech world - for the internet.

How does it happen?

1. Arrogance
2. Greed
3. Stupidity
4. Ignorance/Thinking they shouldn't be copying the Pats model.

I mean, I saw it coming for years.

Teams literally refuse to read Pats Management Secrets Vol 1 and 2, and refuse to employ people who understand BB's genius Cap Era artistry.

I literally ask "What would BB do here?"....Once I can kind of guess and maybe be right, I watch other teams run in the opposite direction with approach, and I just start laughing, knowing it won't work.

I mean, the very fact they won't build their teams like ours, is embarrassing and a complete failure.

I kept talking about how teams didn't quite grasp or want to grasp how the Rookie Cap of 2011, could actually set a GM up for cap health. BB knew it, traded away pricey vets, doubled down on draft picks, hit on most, and here we are.

I mean, BB had 6 picks in the top 100 of EACH draft from 2010-2012. That's why we see this potential new dynasty today.

Not one GM had a better yield from 2010-2014 (ballpark, generally speaking), in and out the Lockout than BB. So, when teams cut a quality vet at age 28 or so, he comes BB to pounce on a lower priced vet who wants to win (See Chris Long and numerous others). So, he just waits in the weeds, and then pounces on other teams' stupidity.

Once that Flacco deal hit, where arrogant Ozzie Newsome and Bisciotti, completely ignored re-upping their franchise QB for a proper deal, Flacco reeled off 12 TDs and 0 Ints in the 2012 postseason, and it gave him all the leverage in the world on Baltimore. Flacvo used it and destroyed their cap postion, slowly but surely. Throw in Ozzie being absolutely awful at drafting starting in 2010, with like 2 good picks in 2013 only, every guy he did pick right, that player left in FA to cap hell. So, he couldn't even keep a guy he hit on! lmao

It's how I knew Baltimore would fade. And once you get caught, you're caught.

80% of the league is either in a cap hell with a mediocre or bad team from this problem, or they have tons of cap space, think they can spend their way into a teambuild (Think the Jets), and they'll rinse and repeat, over and over, as a wild failure.

I could have walked into 80% of the league's front offices in some capacity, worked for free, and done a better job. But, these owners saw the dollar signs on the 2011 CBA, cashed in, and simply haven't cared. Greed. Arrogance. Second Generation Owner Ego.

And, Marshall isn't intelligent enough to talk about this anyway. He's Exhibit A of selfish primadonna, way overpriced, etc, where he CHOSE to go to certain teams in FA or via a trade he accepted, where those franchises did every single thing the complete opposite of what BB would have done. He has no business whining about it now.

The Pats have singlehandedly destroyed the cap era and it's' why Spygate and Deflategate exist.

As much money as the owners have made, they still are ticked off at Kraft's super duper success, his EXTRA money, and them knowing it's not going away.

It's why Goodell was hired, actually. Woody Johnson was "assigned" to hire Goodell.

PS Even BB's drafts in 2008 or 2009 that were seen as weak, they're really not. So, for about a decade now, BB's draft yields, now keeping costs down under a Rookie Cap since 2011, have given him all the leverage he needs to keep the train rolling.

What do you mean "now that Peyton is gone". Manning has NEVER been an impediment to the Pats winning a superbowl. In 2006 it was the flue, the refs, and a 4th and 2 ball placement. In 2015 it was a injury riddled OL, a missed extra point, and an elite D that derailed the Pats. Manning has NEVER been the reason the Pats didn't get to a Superbowl.

any qb that went for #1 qb money is to blame. and WR that asked for $15 mil a year is to blame. any rb making double digit millions is to blame.

You won't be the patriots if you expect to be the highest paid player in the league.

I found Marshall's comments to be highly complimentary of the Pats. I may be in a minority (well actually I AM in a minority ), but I have always found Marshall refreshingly candid.

When you think of it, with a league rigged to make it almost impossible to stay at a high level, the other 31 teams SHOULD be ashamed that they've allowed one team to be so successful for so many years. ESPECIALLY when they have actively gone after them on 2 separate occasions in blatant attempts to cripple, even further, their ability to remain competitive.

It's because he was on that Inside the NFL show and he'd look worse than he already sounds if he didn't concede how great NE is.

If he was genuine about what he's saying, he would have taken the vet min and come to NE.

I am not sure if BB would have put up with his antics and drops, but at the vet min and a tryout, sure.

It's like Forte..The tool was with Jets to sign a deal, BB calls, he takes the call, but still signs with the Jets. Who in their right mind would do that? Answer: The person who only cares about money.

Meanwhile. Forte could have won a ring, could have done an endorsement deal in NE off of it, and gotten some extra money that way. But, nope.

These people are phonies.

If some players value $ over rings that fine everyones got to eat. Just dont complain when you loose every year. I would also argue its 16 teams to blame vs 32.

I’m sorry, but I’d hardly call our path to the Super Bowl this year easy.

We saw a microcosm of the problem on NFL Turning Point (as mentioned in the thread linking that video). Jacksonville gets a correct but unfavorable PI call against his team, and instead of refocusing his (very competent) defense into holding them to a FG, he wastes time and energy complaining to one of his assistants how terrible the call was.

The rest of the league is too busy complaining about everything they think the Pats are doing to screw them, when they should be focusing on what they can do to make it no longer matter. Focus on what you can control, and the results will take care of themselves.

This past episode (Inside the NFL) was insufferable.

Ray Lewis adds nothing to the show other than being a murderer. The hate he has for NE is pretty transparent. He would have stabbed a Patriot player if one was in the studio.

And the highlights they had of the game used audio from clearly a Jacksonville perspective.

The NFL clearly is playing up the "Pats are villains" angle. If i was Jags fan i would have been fuming after watching that. But since i'm not, i was

I know a ton of Vikings fans that are rooting for the Patriots.
