Brandon Browner calls out our good ole buddy Shannon "not too" Sharpe

Sharpe essentially **** on him this morning. Papa was much kinder.

So Browner is bad and being exposed worse than last year and Revis has gained weight and is apparently not playing with the same passion he once did? Interesting.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Gotham, Butler is making plays everywhere and Ryan found whatever he lost from his rookie season? Interesting.

Browner was a solid contributor here last year, but he is an unusual player with a wide array of strengths and weaknesses. The coaching staff in NE used him in ways that maximized his strengths in specific situations and with key match-ups and that's why he was successful.

I don't know how Nola is specifically using him, but I imagine they are asking too much of him.

The plan last year was to let Browner take an exorbitant number of holding and PI penalties so that refs would reach game quota early on and therefore ignore Gronkowski's physicality. That BB.....always thinking 4 moves ahead on the football field. Too bad BB had rugby on the brain last week....not his sweet spot.

Could Browner be converted to an in the box SS? Not that Chung need a replacing or anything. I liked him as a Patriot, but I couldn't deal with all those PI calls again.

I think that he moves his feets to slow for that. Plus he doesn't really break down well before tackles, he bends his back, instead of his legs. The combination of those isn't really something you want in your box safety.

I agree with Marinlik. Browner would be too slow for a safety and wouldn't have the proper tackling technique. Hell, if he gained a few more pounds he could be a LB instead.

Hi. Being from south Louisiana I watch most of the Saints games. They do NOT maximize his strengths like when he was a patriot. They usually just put Breaux and Browner on the top two wide outs. He's getting way more penalties this year because the coaching staff has Browner on burners and Browner has to hold them to keep up with them. They should put him up against slower wr's and te's like when he was a patriot.

Why doesn't a professional coaching staff know this?

You would think that someone getting paid the big bucks would have the foresight to see that putting a slower cb on a burner like Ted Ginn might not be the best of ideas.

Looking forward to Browner getting released and coming back to us to play for the vet minimum for another run. He would be useful covering TEs and some bigger slower WRs, although Chung has been fine on TEs this year too.

NFL really needs to rethink the trading deadline. Would be awesome if they allowed trades late in the season . For all teams in general.

This is a nice post. The fact is that Browner on the Pats for the close to the vet minimum would be a great asset in certain specific situations. He is no longer a starter in the league. But he still has a rather unique set of skills that would be very valuable if he is put in the right situations.

I'd take him back in a flash....under those conditions

Still got for love Browner. Hope the best for him.

I hope he does well. I feel that he is natural SS anf can play the P Chung role (covering guys in 3/4 WR sets) for most teams in this league and be very successful. Very good against the run and physical off the line, he can make an impact, but he shouldn't be covering speedy guys.

I dunno, he looked very lost out there this weekend. Frankly I was surprised he wasn't pulled out of the game. He was either committing obvious fouls on receivers, or he was watching from behind as they ran away from him. Unless there's a very specific role he's needed for here, I think he's toast at this point.

At the beginning of the year, I was hoping Butler would be a little above average and Ryan average. I think Butler has been very good while Ryan has been good and trending up. Now, I'm worried how much it will cost to keep them
