No, it’s not like a waiver claim, there’s no requirement that he sign with another team. It sounds like he stayed on the Patriots PS after rejecting those offers from other teams. Then a roster slot opened up, he had improved and they elevated him. He bet on himself and it paid off.

It sounded to me like these were offers that happened now, promoting the patriots to sign him. I know we all want to think being a patriot is the ultimate thing but players aren’t sticking around very long sitting out games and losing money.
Staying here or going elsewhere would both be examples of betting on himself.

Good points. If so, who would you have him passing? Jennings has had games where he's been inactive. Could this possibly be the case for this game? Could Swinson possibly provide more edge presence?

He could certainly offer more rushing the passer.
Jennings is a decent player. Good against the run, not so good rushing.
We desperately need some pass rush juice from the outside, I’ve been banging that drum for many weeks.
Maybe Swinson can help in that regard.

Anything is possible look at Elijah Ponder??

Ponder is ahead of Swinson. Ponder was an UDFA, Swinson was a draft pick who was on the practice squad for 11 weeks. Now if one of our starting edge rushers can’t start, that could give Swinson a chance to play.

Agreed here. And Vrabel likely sees the same. Jennings is excellent run player and sets the edges..I'm actually glad we didn't move him as we are going to need his abilities come playoffs.

But yes Landry is laboring.. Chaisson has been a force but he could use help. Swinson fits an of need the more pass rushing the better.

No clue only the coaches would know. We have seen zero of him.
They seem to love ponder. Who knows about Smith? Personally I think Jennings is a valuable player.
