I have been of the opinion for many years now that every starter should skip 1 turn in the rotation in August. I think the benefits of the move outweigh the risks. Not a 6-man rotation but a full 9 days off between 1 start. Wouldn't hurt to try.

Absolutely; Beckett is getting way up there in innings pitched, so skipping a turn if they can work it out would do him wonders at this point...............

Brad Penny threw 8 innings of shutout ball in the NL? What a joke. I hate to say, but (as some of us pointed out before the season) it seems his splits weren't lying. Wait till the Whitesox learn that the hard way with their $18 million a year man, Jake Peavy. Peavy won't suck like Penny in the AL, but my opinion is that he won't be anything special. He certainly won't be worth the coin he getting.
