They still have a big hole at SLB, which is the position Ryans played and excelled at, at Alabama. If I was the Eagles I would draft Kuechly and play him a MLB, Ryans at SLB and Brian Rolle at WLB.
I don't see the Eagles giving up draft picks and paying Ryans $6M salary to be an SLB though. He'll be the MLB for sure. This just means Philly won't take a LB in the 1st which wasn't a guaranteee anyway since Andy doesn't like to do that.
They have two second rounders and there should be a few good LB's available then.
I think the Eagles go DT and they will probably take Cox/Still/Brockers/Poe if available.

I don't think you pass on the best LB prospect since Patrick Willis just because you are paying Ryans $6mil, especially with the rookie wage scale. They really only gave up the equivalent of a late 3rd rounder, so they are not too invested in the guy that they have to play him at MLB. I'm not saying they will draft Kuechly, but if they like him, I don't think DeMeco Ryans is a reason not to take him. He might not even make it to the Eagles, so it might not even be an issue.
Philly trading for DeMeco Ryans, how far do you think he falls?
How did I not hear of this?
Seems odd, signed a decent extension 2 seasons ago! Not a bad player either!
I wouldn't be shocked if Carolina takes him at 9. He's a better football player than any of the defensive linemen in this draft.....Period And, it's not really all that close.
Jon Beason just called. He thinks you're crazy.
The Ryans to Philly trade kinda messes up our DT/DE prospects. Guys like Cox, Still, and Brockers will get pushed further out of our reach. Andy Reid has a history of using 1st rounders on DL and OL and I think Philly is set at LT and #16 is too high to draft an RT. Maybe they go DeCastro and have two nasty guards but likely it's Still, Cox, or Brockers.
Tell Beason to stay healthy. He got hurt in their 1st game They should move him to wolb anyway. He's not a MLB. They lost Dan Connor who had a good year. Eagles could use safety help. If Barron gets a good workout in before the draft. I can see them drafting him to DL as you mentioned.
I did not like what I saw of Kuechly on tape. I am no scout or expert but he seemed to miss a lot of tackles. He has good straight line speed but the missed tackle bother me.
27. NE: Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
28. GB: Peter Konz
29. BAL: Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama
30. Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson
31. NE: Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi St.
32. NYG: Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College
OK . . . maybe this is just Charlie Casserly being a moron, but here's how he has his latest NFL.com draft shaping up:
(A) He has no ILBs going higher.
(B) He has Coby Fleener out of the first.
If the board actually shaped up with Kuechly still available at 27/31, could you see BB taking him?
