Boston College ILB Luke Kuechly dropping (?)

If Kuechly is available at 31 and he sees no value at any position of need, I'll personally walk up top BB and slap him across the face if he doesn't trade that spot with someone who needs a LB. Likelihood is the Giants won't pass him up at 32 so pick 31 becomes a lot more valuable to us for a team desperate there.

Screw ILB...we're fine with Spikes and Fletcher. Blowing your load over an exciting prospect can be suicidal if you don;t have a need there.

Passing on Keuchly would be the stupidest thing Belcihick could do. If they have any shot at him they should jump all over it. LB is a serious need for NE and Fletcher has never shown that he is a starter at any time.

I agree, and remember Spikes is so SSSLLOOOWWWW! Kuechly is a three down LBer, Spikes is first and second only.

Mayo?

Mayo was playing OLB in the hybrid we played...if we stick with it that will likely be the same case.

The personnel was effectively a 33 with Ninko lining up (standing mostly) on the line of scrimmage. Ninko was one OLB, whilst Spikes lined up in the middle and Mayo on the other side.

It gave it a 4-2 look when Ninko was up on the line.

Bah! Remember that Andy Katzenmoyer was fast also. Pete Carrol boasted that he was the fastest LB in the draft. Fast indeed but he could not play; blocks stuck to him like flypaper.

Kuechly is fast but misses too many tackle. Bah.

But heck; what do I know--I am no scout but neither are any of you so let's not get too heated on this issue...

OK . . . maybe this is just Charlie Casserly being a moron, but here's how he has his latest NFL.com draft shaping up:

Quote:
27. NE: Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
28. GB: Peter Konz
29. BAL: Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama
30. Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson
31. NE: Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi St.
32. NYG: Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College

If the board actually shaped up with Kuechly still available at 27/31, could you see BB taking him?

There is no way that Konz gets by the Patriots at 27. Or so I would think...but then I don't see how he drops to 27 in the first place. I am not saying I like it (I would prefer defense) but I cannot see BB passing on Konz.

I see it. We just signed Connelly. He is getting paid like a starter.

Green Bay just signed Saturday, so I don't think they will bite on Konz. Besides, OL is deep this year in draft, if any OL are taken by the pats it will probably be mid rounds.

Saturday has 1 to 2 years at most left on his career. No reason GB can't take Konz late in the 1st and have him sit a year or play in rotation at Guard.

FredFromDartmouth, your view of Kuechly is terrible and everyone in the country disagrees with you.

I think Buffalo snags Kuechly at #10. Yeah, it seems crazy high for an ILB, but this is the team that has reached for Donte Whitner, Aaron Maybin and CJ Spiller.

Buffalo has build a very strong defensive line, and they have great safeties. I bet they view Kuelchy as the missing piece to completing their defense.

Hey I am no scout....but remember...neither are you. "Everyone" does not include professional scouts; we don't know what they are saying but we will find out on draft day. Even then we do not know if he will work out. I am just expressing what I saw instead of parroting what some retail draft guide says; he missed a lot of tackles in the tape I saw; maybe he was injured--who knows.

It is one of the principles of Existentialism; to believe in what ones sees instead of believing dogma. I did not see a dominating linebacker; I did not see him crushing people; instead I saw him blocked out and missing tackles. But heck I could be dead wrong but this is what I saw.

I looked on the web and everyone is saying that he is rising. I am probably way off base but it is what I saw

Really now, how do you miss a lot of tackles if you lead the country in that category? 158,183 and 191 in 3 years. Lets not forget about the 7 interceptions either. Certainly not a need but near impossible to ignore if he falls to 27. You got to take him. One of the most instinctive players in the last 5 drafts imo.

Btw I'm not a scout, but I'm not an blind either. Dude can tackle better than the riff raff we've seen the last few years.

There are 2 guys that I covet more than the rest... and I can imagine both being early picks: Kuechly and David DeCastro

I was starting to think the same thing here. It makes a lot of sense the more I think about it. I could also see them upgrading the offensive line or trading down a few spots.

Decastro is the best college og i have seen come out since hutchinson. What a tremendous blend of knee bender flat back and power. Very difficult to bull and has enough lateral agility to handle slants and and stuntse. Gets to the second level and destroys defenders in space. He has it all.
